I did some checking up on this band, it looks like the band formed in 2005 in Ohio...

I was a little confused about the headliner about last night's show at the 400 Bar. Apparently the order were shuffled around, because it was a Fuzzy Machete CD release show, with their self-titled EP.
The band is self-described as an all-girls band that plays "punk, alternative, glam rock, and blues". They write and sing songs about Star Trek, bunnies, zombies, ninjas, pirates, you know, sort of dorky stuff.
The most interesting song on their set was a song about Scott Bakula, captain of possibly the worst Trek series, Enterprise (although Deep Space Nine is pretty awful too. Be sure to read more about Star Trek on W♥M.)
The night also marked the final show with Hunter Valentine and Vanity Theft, the team-up was a good fit, as the two band's music and attitude seems to compliment each other. Everyone involved seemed sad to say farewell, but we'll get to that later.
Starting off the night was Sensory Motel, a band out of place on account that the other three bands were all-girls bands. Singer Steve Rhoden said it was their "last local show ever", although you didn't hear it from me, but I think they're going in some acoustic/folk venture later. Their set was pretty long for an opening band, I suppose it only seem long because I didn't know any of the songs. Well, minus the Talking Heads cover "Psycho Killer".
Hunter Valentine seems pleased at the turn out last night (which admittedly had a pretty good group of people). They had a great stage presence, and the highlight of the set for me was, what I'm pretty sure was a cover of this old 80s song, "Your Love", members of Vanity Theft joined them on stage. Hand claps and dancing were involved.
Prior to show, I was talking to the staff and I mentioned I was really looking forward to seeing Lizzie Maguire's best friend. I was then told that she (Lelaine) wasn't on tour for some auditions or something. Indeed, it was correct, Amanda Dellevigne, took over the bass duty.
As you can see from Vanity Theft's setlist, most of the songs played were from their recently released Get What You Came For. The two not from the new album were "Where's the Action?" and "Symptoms", which was the last song on the set. During the performance of "Anatomy", Hunter Valentine repaid the favor from earlier with a stage invasion of their own*.
Anyway, sad to see the end of the Hunter Valentine and Vanity Theft alliance, but I'm glad to have caught their final appearance together.
* I actually have a video clip of this, but Comcast seems to have banned me from uploading any file larger than 100mb. I had to do some research on this, because my modem kept restarting, you can read more about it on this forum. I'll try and reduce the file, and/or go to a public hotspot and upload it from there (too much work!). I hate Comcast.
