In part two, it's Valentine's Day, the Soundcloud edition. Also, personal update: it's getting warmer here in Minneapolis, pretty soon, I'll be outside bicycling and all will be good again. My first concert for 2011 will return pretty soon. I'll keep you posted.

Jon Hamlin, aka iamxl, is a DJ from Vancouver, Canada. He's remixed a ton of popular bands, such as Feist, Salt n Pepa, and Joy Division. His latest, according to his website, is La Roux's "Bulletproof".
With Valentine's Day here, iamxl turned his focus on a world music beat of Amadou et Mariam's "Je pense à toi", which translates to "I think of you".
The remix is apparently funky with world dance and lots of repetitive beats. The song is catchy enough that I'll try and look for the original mix to see how that fares against this remix.
THE LOVE THAT DARE NOT SPEAK ITS NAME

Described only as the ultimate "alternative anthem for Valentine's Day", Cosmo Jarvis' "Gay Pirates" is about two men in love against all odds.

Milk It is The Palpitations' latest release today: Valentine's Day. To celebrate, you can download some remixes of "Milk It" and "Shirley Valentine".
I've never heard of this band, but apparently this South London's band got a bit of fame when the band and music appeared on Channel 4 and E4, Radio 2 - championed by Andy Weatherall and Chris Martin (not Mister Coldplay, but NME Radio).
If they sound anything like their counterparts Islington Boys' Club or British Sea Power, then The Palpitations should be worth checking out.
"Milk It" and "Love Is True (That's Why It Hurts)" appears exclusively on a limited edition of 250 copies of their 7".
PS: Bands, PR, and general public, send me music. If I like what I hear, or if it fits into a themed article, I will use it.

Excerpt about the song below:
If you weren’t already sure of the potency of Cosmo Jarvis brilliant single, ‘Gay Pirates’, then you may as well be lost with your old, soppy Valentine’s Day anthems this year. Having already received high praise from the likes of Paul Gambaccini, Stephen Fry, fantastic support from XFM and 6Music as well as a slew of swooning reviews, Cosmo Jarvis has unintentionally created the alternative anthem for loved up non-Pirates worldwide.
The single is certainly a love song, let’s get that straight, but it challenges the conventions that define what a love song is. This is a song written for a definite reason, and aside from being vintage Cosmo, it is focused on breaking down the homophobic residue that still remains today; hundreds of years after the glimpse of society he exposes in the song. There is a shocking quality to the lyrics that really imprint on the imagination.
