Just two more days until Christmas eve, which means only two more days of Christmas songs. Here's a few more Christmas tracks, the theme this post is original songs (they also all have holiday bells in their songs!)
BEWITCHED HANDS
myspace.com/handsbewitched
Don't really know much about this band, other than that they have really unconventional capitalization (they spelled it as: "ThE bEwItChEd HaNdS oN tHe ToP oF oUr HeAdS"). Usually these things are forgiven because the band is young (agewise) or foreign, which is the case because they're French.
From what I've read this is mostly a folky band and they have really amazing vocal harmonies, so see if you can spot that on their free "Christmas Tree" song.
It looks like they're doing quite an extensive France and German tour in 2011.
WYLDLIFE
myspace.com
This is a really young band from New York, and they're not shy about their influences (The Rolling Stones, New York Dolls, The Ramones, The Hives, The Damned, Buzzcocks, etc).
Their Christmas song is called "Rumple Minze". Yes, it has jingle bells, but at least it's an original tune (unlike so many cover/standard songs I get this time of year).
Like what you hear ? You can grab their Nicotine EP as a free download via wyldlife.bandcamp.com.
They're playing a few dates on the east coast:
SILVER SWANS

I've previously mentioned Silver Swans before, mostly because I'm a bit of a comic book nerd (they took their name from a Wonder Woman villainess).
Yes, well, of course, just for the holidays is a new recording, aptly named "Holidays". The song reminds me of Swedish pop music, like Club 8, but guess what? There's also holiday bells on this song.
Below are more information about this duo:

Below are more information about this duo:
They formed from the collaboration of DJ producer Jon Waters and songwriter Ann Yu. Both artists also have prolific backgrounds. Ann Yu has been in bands that have shared the stage with acts such as The Radio Dept, La Roux, Black Kids, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Mates of State, Jose Gonzales and many more. Jon has produced and DJ’d all over the world. But with all of the experience the duo decided to take a different route when it comes to creating music together. Silver Swans puts a special meaning to the idea of bedroom recordings. All tracks were recorded in late night sessions hidden under covers, in their bathrooms, and right before bed. The songs you hear are a reflection of the dreams they’ve uncovered and hope to discover.
