It is brilliant! There are hints of jealousy, heavy drinking, love lost, and bloody, sinister murder.

Chapin Sisters stopped by the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis on November 10th, to play some tunes for a very grateful audience. One thing is for sure, everyone who's ever played at the Dakota have always complimented on the excellent food, such is one of the perks when bands play this restaurant/musical venue.
Opener artist, NEeMa started things off with her song, "Elsa's Lullaby", which she tells us that it's about her child, which is revealed to be her little puppy dog. Most of her song she played is from her forthcoming album, Watching You Think (due out on February 1st, 2011), and based on hearing "Unspoken", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Lost in LA" (dedicated to chef Jack), I can say that it's going to be a wonderful little album. She ended her set with a traditional prayer song, which utilized a bit of her vocal range.
Joining the Chapin Sisters on tour, making his debut tour appearance, was Louis Stephens, taking over piano. The last time I caught the siblings, it was in June, they opened up (and played as backup band) to She & Him, so their opening set was, of course, short. So basically, they mostly did songs from their new album, Two. I'm happy to report that with this tour, they have more room, in addition to Two, to squeeze in some favorites off Lake Bottom and added in some cover songs.
Key songs from the set that people loved were: "Let Me Go" (this got a bit of a chuckle at "he said he'd leave me ... but he sure is taking his time"), "Don't Love You", and their Britney Spears cover "Toxic".
The final song on the set was "Digging a Hole", which surprisingly sound quite different with drums (courtesy of NEeMa's drummer) compared to their live version back in June. I didn't think they could really top that fine song, but for the encore, they did a really wonderful version of The Smiths' "I Know It's Over". The sisters explained that when they're not writing morbid songs, they collect them. What can I say? It's both faithful, yet with amazing vocal harmonies that only two sisters can bring to a song.
They're wrapping up their Two 2010 tour on the West Coast, so check them out if you're in the area.
