SILVER SWANS
This band, Silver Swans, took their name from Wonder Woman's villain. The original Silver Swan (Helen Alexandros) got her sonic powers from the Greek Gods, however during George Perez's run, the new Silver Swan (Valerie Beaudry) received her powers came from the military. There's even a third version of Silver Swan (Vanessa Kapatelis), who was more like a cyborg.
Anyway, the point is that the band thought it was the idea of creating a powerful "swan song" of sound waves using their voices for destruction was cool. The thing is, people are calling them "dreamy", far from from destructive. Download their song for free at twentysevenmedia.com. It's a bit dreampop, but a bit disco-ey.

Here's another cute one for you: Kori Pop (she said that's her real name). As far as I can tell, I don't think she's related to Levi Pop.
From what I've heard from her music, she has a very lovely, lovely voice. She kind of reminds me of Melissa McClelland and maybe Fiona Apple and even some of the Southern Cat Power.
Her song, "Nowhere Near My Heart", did hook me into checking out more of her stuff. She seems like a really good artist, as evident by her homemade video.
Download "Nowhere Near My Heart" for free at koripop.bandcamp.com, you'll thank me later.
More details about the album From The Outskirts (possibly named after the barn that she recorded on outskirts of her town) at koripop.com and myspace.com/koripop.
THE TING TINGS
You know how I feel about repeating band names. I'm really loving The Ting Tings' new single, Hands (or at least what I've heard of it). It's very catchy: "Clap your hands if you're working too hard."
You can get a free "Hands" Passion Pit remix at AOL's Spinner, but I'll have to confess, the remix is not that great. It's a bit of a head-trauma and loud. Well, there's always the video of them live on Later with Jools Holland on youtube.com.
