What's going on this week in Minneapolis:
TONIGHT - 9/25
I like what Susstones Records is doing with their series of EPs from BNLX. Each release is hand-assembled with extras like pins and stickers, all for under three bucks, so it's cheap enough for you to take a chance on. And speaking of affordable, their shows are usually packed full of bands, with that affordable pricing ($5).
Tonight, they're playing a show at The 501 Club, with Red Pens and Blue Sky Blackout. Doors at 9pm, which means you probably won't get home until 2am.
Also, they're scheduled to appear at the Sauce on 10/16/10, but there was a already another restaurant named Sauce and they had to change to their name. They're now called Cause.
SUNDAY - 9/26
Those Darlins are back at 7th Street Entry. I've already mentioned them quite a few times, so see previous articles. Can't wait!
MONDAY - 9/27
Canadian band, Caribou returns to the States with Swim, they're playing here in Minneapolis on Monday. Here's there North American dates:
TUESDAY - 9/28
Remember Papa Roach ? Of course you do. They have a new album called Time For Annihilation, released at the end of August. The album debut at #1 on the Independent charts and #23 on the Top 200, so quite a few people still remember this hard rock band.
Papa Roach and Trap are playing at The Epic in Minneapolis as part of the "Monsters of Annihilation" tour.
Check out the latest single and video for "Kick In The Teeth":
WEDNESDAY - 9/29
I like their name, Beats Antique, it reminds me of folktronic, which is basically new (electronic) vs old (folk). I believe that's exactly what Beats Antique is trying to achieve with their band.
In just three years, they've released two albums (with a third one coming out soon) and two EPs. Look for these releases when you see them live:
THURSDAY - 9/30
Unicycle Loves You are from Chicago, so they seem to come up to Minneapolis quite a bit. According to what I've read, their second album, Mirror, Mirror, is heavily influenced by cult horror and sci-fi films.
Although the band have shared the stages with such great acts like The Raveonettes and Art Brut, expect their status to go way up after they play with Weezer tonight!
