About to run out the door to hop on a tour bus, Angela from the english 4-piece,The Magic Numbers, squeezed in a very brief chat with Sally. Its been a few years since the release of their last album, Those the Brokes, in 2006 and quite a lot has happened in the meantime. Romeo, Michele and Angela each working on various other projects, including Romeo's work on Damon Albarn's Africa Express Project (including a song that is on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack), Angela's work on The Boxer Rebellion's latest album and Michele's solo work. They also have their own studio now. ooh!
Containing arrangement from the late Robert Kirby (of Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left fame), the new album, The Runaway is set to be released in July. With the release of the album The Magic Numbers are about to kick off quite an extensive tour (including Australia; adding to the already brilliant line-up on the bill at the sold out Splendour in the Grass festival in Woodford, Queensland at the end of July).
So if you want to catch them... they might be passing by:
Note: this was 8am in Sally-time and after a popping out to see a lovely show at the Loft (at UTS)... accompanied by a couple of beverages, brain power levels were not at 100%.
