Since the last time The Depreciation Guild were here, they had a movie projector. I had concluded that they were just using the project as loan from School of Seven Bells, but still, the tiny 7th Street Entry's stage did not leave much room for such setup.
Their setlist was just as short as the last time, but the tracks were a little different from the 2009 set. With just the second song, main singer Kurt announced that it was a new song and not on their In Her Gentle Jaws album (which was released last year on Kanine Records). Perhaps the new song is from their forthcoming album Spirit Youth, to be released in May 2010?
They also explained that the roses decorating their stage was in honor of Serena Maneesh drummer's birthday. It would be later announced that Tommy Akerholdt just turned 35 that day.

Also, I don't know if Christoph and Kurt are related, but standing next to each other, they look a bit alike - from hair to build to clothing.*
While their music is clashing guitars and wall of sounds, you should check out their debut EP called Nautilus, which seems to be inspired by lo-fi and SNES. It is available as a free download via 8bitpeoples.com.

Highlight of the show was either "Ayisha Abyss" or the closer "Blow Yr Brains in the Mourning Rain", the later features Emil Nikolaisen versus his shawl (the shawl was winning). Although, the band clearly demonstrated that they are great performers, their music is so loud and catchy, that I found myself just lost in dancing that I'm not paying attention to the craziness that's happening on stage.
Overall, the two bands were a nice match up, since both bands seems to live off the guitar noises and less worry about the vocals.
PS, bassist and sister of Emil, Hilma could easily double as a model (if she's not already a model).
* 3/31/10 11:38am: I am told that Christopher and the drummer are twins.
