Another Melbourne-based band! Must be something in the water. Anyway... what do we have here?
Hot Little Hands and their debut album Dynamite in Black and White.
I'm not one for being subjective (*ahem*), but his band are brilliant. It's kind of like a mixture of a whole list of sounds stretching back numerous decades.
Synthesized electronic beeps and pings, melodic trumpet lines, cute whilsting interludes, mixed in with that loverly indie-style guitar rockness that people such as myself are powerless to refuse.
Highlights for me include the title song Dynamite in Black and White, which absolutely reminds me of queen. Now I think about it, if I didn't know better I could imagine Freddy Mercury inside the speakers singing. I apologise if that makes anyone cringe in pain. I do have a lively imagination though.
The thing I love the most about this album is that for someone with next to no attention span the eleven songs total less than 40 minutes. Also, it's not too shabby to boogie around the room to when no one's watching. Nice!
