Underneath this rather minimalist cover logo/art is a pleasantly surprisingly awesome rock album from Finest Dearest!
This is apparently a very young band, with only a self-titled debut recent LP (released April 8th). The band, themselves, didn't form until maybe 2005 in San Francisco, although somewhere along the way, it looks like they lost their keyboardist Cheryl.
Singer Carly Schneider's vocals reminds me a lot of Tanya Donelly with a Riot Grrrl influence, so it made their songs to have this feel of 90s indie music - such as L7 or Throwing Muses.
I'm definitely feeling "Night-Blooming Flowers" with its low-then-loud (but all indie guitar) sound. Despite the laziness of naming three of their songs "Making A Sound", each one isn't simply a standard song blah song - but each one is very good and unique.
However, my favorite song is "Your Hometown". It's definitely a foot-stomper, with the occassional trombone & trumpet thrown in the song. This song should be a concert favorite.
They're currently on tour right now, so I wanted to mention this band sooner, rather than later. Head over to Bloodtown Records to get their latest album, if you can't make it to their show.
