I got a notification that Swedish band, Sambassadeur released a new single, Final Say on January 30th:
Second single from Sambassadeur's masterpiece "Migration" is their most luxurious track to date. With Miami Vice-percussion, a choir that seems to be singing underground and galloping guitars "Final say" is bound to dominate any tasteful dance floors in the year 2008. Truly wonderful!
But after checking the record label's website, it lists:
Sambassadeur
»final say«
CD single
February 6
I wonder if they are having trouble with production? If that's the case, digital music are available for downloads (no production problems here!) and I've also read that Labrador signed with eMusic to offer their catalogue. I did a quick search and, yep, all of Sambassadeur's music are available.
So listen to "Final Say", the single off their album, Migration (2007). I have been digging this new song!
Trivia: They are named after the Serge Gainsbourg song "Les Sambassadeurs".

I got a couple more tour announcements, and the first one I wanted to talk about are these two bands (Quitzow and Setting Sun) from Young Love Records.
It should be an interesting tour, because Quitzow sounds more DIY electronic while Setting Sun sounds like a warped Elliot Smith.
Quitzow / Setting Sun Live:
02/05 Los Angeles, CA @ Silverlake Lounge
02/06 San Francisco, CA @ Thee Parkside Lounge
02/07 Sacramento, CA @ Old Ironsides
02/08 Arcada, CA @ Mosgos
02/09 Eugene, OR @ Shady Pines
02/10 Portland, OR @ Ash St. Saloon
02/11 Seattle, WA @ The High Dive
02/12 Olympia, WA @ The Royal
You can listen to both song, as well as read more details on the press release.
Trivia: Quitzow's name comes from singer Erica Quitzow's name. She apparently also plays drums, moog, and cello in Setting Sun.

One of my favorite American band, Eels, also announced some tour dates.
It looks like the tour is mostly to promote their CD/DVD "Best of" collection called Meet the Eels: Essential Eels and Useless Trinkets: B Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities and Unreleased 1996-2007, both released January 15th.
Apparently singer Mark Everette (aka E) also wrote Things the Grandchildren Should Know. And at the very bottom of the press release:
EELS are planning to purchase one-second of Super Bowl television airtime to advertise the new rarities collections, USELESS TRINKETS.
However, I just got word today:
... the NFL would have to find 29 other advertisers to buy 1 second spots to fill a standard 30 second advertising slot and that they do not sell advertising time by the second.
- E
To see the FULL 1 second commercial, go here. And as usual, head over to their press release for even more details.
