Earwig are a band based out Columbus, Ohio. Self-proclaimed the "Anti-Next Big Thing" Earwig have been around for several years and can put together a nice 3 ½ minute rock song.
The band is comprised of Vocalist Lizard McGee, Bassist Matt Wagner and Drummer Justin Crooks. Truthfully, I had never heard of Earwig before and on first listen it reminded me of the Gin Blossoms. The songs on the latest release "Center of the Earth" are fun and catchy and in the spirit of DIY music they have an impressive following in their home state. They release all their own albums on their own "micro-indie" label LFM. To my surprise, "Center of the Earth" was released in 2006!
My favorites off "Center of the Earth" was the intro track "Used Kids" which really gives you a sense of Earwig at it's best. I'd love to see this band play this song live. There's so much energy in this song that the CD version doesn't even begin to do it justice. My other favorite is the 1:25 gem "Center of the Earth" which is just a sweet, sweet song.
