Robbers Setlist
ON THE BILL ♥ Robbers on High Street ♥ Great Northern ♥ Goodbye Girl Friday |
It was an cold night in Minneapolis, last night (Nov 17th), but we warmed up inside the 7th Street Entry. The first opening band didn't show up on stage until well after 9:30pm, and we all knew it was going to be a long night. It was a good thing that I didn't have to work the next day.
Goodbye Girl Friday is basically the stage name for Dave Sherman. He's a pianist from Brooklyn, New York, who's joined on stage by two members of Robbers on the High Street.
As for the Robbers on High Street, they're also from New York, and tomorrow (Nov 18th), in Chicago, Illinois, their last tour appearance for this year. At one point in their setlist, members from Great Northern joined on stage, it looks like a lot of fun. They did two covers, a Kinks song, "Dead End Street" and, on the encore, the guitarist took the stage to sing Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now".
In doing a little research on the band, I found out that they're on New Line Records, the record label of New Line Cinema (one of my favorite film company!).
I suspect this was how they got in touch with film music composer Daniele Luppi for their second album, Grand Animals (2007).
Great Northern was the other support band. The highlight of the evening was when singer Rachel started talking about white-tailed deers (and then inviting a fan onstage to explain about her studying about deers).
As usual, I have a crappy camera, so instead check out photographs from Brody or enjoy my vuart of Ashley and Rachel on stage:
