With possibly the greatest festival lineup in the UK this year, the End of the Road festival has a history of success. It was voted the Best New Music Festival in the UK Festival Awards 2006. As my festival season once again draws to a close, I am kicking myself for making hasty decisions while selecting my festivals.
Don't get me wrong! The Green Man 2007 rocked my world and socks, Summer Sundae satisfied my musical cravings and I'm sure Bestival will make me break out my lo-fi middle class dance moves while under the influence.
But, dear readers, my heart is broken. Another year passes and I will once again miss out on the End of the Road festival. For whatever reason, possibly self-hatred, I always seem to forget the End of the Road festival when booking my tickets. With this is mind, I feel compelled to bring the festival to your attention. It is my good deed for the day!
If you have not attended a musical festival this year then this is the one for you. The lineup includes the likes of Yo La Tengo, Midlake, Willard Grant Conspiracy, David Thomas Broughton, Viking Moses, Super Furry Animals, Brakes, King Creosote, Joan As Police Woman, The Concretes, I'm From Barcelona, British Sea Power, Architecture In Helsinki, Darren Hayman, John Smith, Port O'Brien (see below), Monkey Swallows The Universe, Seasick Steve, Herman Dune, The Broken Family Band and Malcolm Middleton.
It is like my musical wet dream!
It is taking place in the Larmer Tree Gardens, North Dorset/Wiltshire borders, UK. The campsite opens at 10:00hrs on Friday 14th September 2007 and the first act starts at 14:00hrs the same day. The festival spans across three days concluding on Sunday 16th September 2007 with the wonderful alt-country group, Lambchop.
If you are seeking to have your soul cleansed from all the musical nonsense that has been released this year then this is the place for you. Don't make the same mistake I have by bankrupting yourself on lesser festivals. Bankrupt yourself at this one as it promises to be another awesome year for the End of the Road festival! - thedharmablues
