PIPETTES TOUR CONTINUES...
Please note: that although these events are advertised as "Sold Out" on the venue's calendar listing, there will always be some reserve tickets available at the door. It's usually first come, first serve, so get there early if you truly want to get in the show. |
Remember when I said that I couldn't believe the Pipettes are coming here? And to such a small venue?? Well I just checked the event listing and it shows that this is officially a sold-out show.
There were two opening bands, Smoosh and Monster Bobby. Smoosh are two sisters out of Seattle. They're joined on stage by their 10 year old sister, Maia for two or three of the songs. Check out some of their MP3s that they offer on their website. Although they're very young, I think they're going to be really huge in a few years.
Monster Bobby looks like a one man band who describes himself as "Christian Rap, 2-step, and Grindcore". Anyway, he did an interesting remix of the Pipettes' "Judy", which you can hear on his myspace. His set consists of "The Doctor" (some loop machine) and his guitar. Oh, he's also the guitarist of the Pipettes.
You should probably have guessed already that the Pipettes choreographed all their songs, so each song have a different dance. Most notable number seems to be "Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me" and "Pull Shapes".
For the encore (not listed on the set list), they did "ABC" and "We Are the Pipettes".
I asked them later on why was the album so delayed for the US market, and they said it was because they are repackaging it for America with two extra tracks ("Dance-Boogie" and "_____", I forgot the second one). They are being released by Interscope Records in the US.
Random: it's also noted that all the new songs they did seems to consist of the extra Roland keyboard.
