Here's a lost little pop song that I vaguely remember getting radio airplay here stateside for a short period in the early nineties, only to disappear into the ether until this handy little internet made it available to my ears once again. Even so, I had trouble tracking down a copy of it, and I thank Vu for doing the legwork...
So The Other Two are Stephen Morris and GIllian Gilbert, members of New Order. While I also remember this time with Bernard Sumner going about and doing his own side projects, I can't recall what Peter Hook was doing in order for this couple to refer to their side project as if they were some forgotten outcasts. Nevertheless, the single is the only thing I ended up hearing from them. Looking at the cover now, even that picture feels like an alternate, smiling version of the Low-Life album, and that font has to be the exact same one from the Republic singles. I guess they just weren't into the intricacies of compelling design....
I read somewhere whilst searching for this song that it was named after some chip shop near them, and I like that explanation. I would rather go to Tasty Fish than H. Salt or Long John Silver's. Of course, I get my fish and chips at the local pub, and I'm thankful I have an excellent British pub with taps full of British ales and actual decent food. Ask me about the sticky toffee pudding anytime...
