The Arctic Monkeys are undoutably the biggest band from England right now. I did went to see them play live here and I was actually more impressed with their opening band, Be Your Own Pet, which are a few underage kids (the youngest being 18 years old). But what they offer is a little showmenship, as they jump and dance around as they sing (I mean, scream) their songs.
The Arctic Monkeys didn't do that, but there were some moments where Alex Turner (the singer/guitarist) walked away from the mic and stuff.
This kind of remind me of Oasis, because as much as I love Oasis, they're kind of boring to see live. I've interviewed Liam Gallagher before and he basically said, "I don't dance 'cos I'm the fookin' singer."
Despite that, everyone in the audience LOVED the Arctic Monkeys. They were singing along with the popular songs, which I'll admit I don't know any of their songs, except for "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor".
Besides that song, I'm also going to include the video to "Scummy Man" which was inspired by the Arctic Monkeys' song "Scummy" (which was renamed to "When the Sun Goes Down"). The short (it's about 15 minutes), is available online on ifilm and also on DVD (with a few bonus show stories). Warning: you may be offended by the drugs and violence to women.
