THE LONELY WILD
at 7th Street Entry
Monday, 11/23/2015, 7pm ($10) first-avenue.com
Los Angeles' The Lonely Wild (not to be confused with the Young Wild) is back in Minneapolis, supporting their new sophomore album Chasing White Light (eOne Music / Fast Plastic).
Frontman Andrew Carroll talked about the so-called "death album" noting, "This album doesn't dwell on the despair of it all. It's about looking at death for what it is - something we all go through at some point. It's that great mystery and no one really knows what happens. You're never going to know until you get there. And you have to come to terms with that. Through writing these songs I've come to accept it and not totally fear it. And I hope our fans can too."
Touring with The Lonely Wild is Young Buffalo, who we previously mentioned the band as from being from Mississippi. The five-piece rock band (singer/guitarist Jim Barrett, guitarist Ben Yarbrough, keyboardist Will Eubanks, bassist Andrew Guinn, and drummer Timothy Burkhead) has a new album called House, an 11-track album produced by Dave Schiffman (Haim, Weezer).
Local Jonathan Seldat to open.
Remaining The Lonely Wild Tour Dates:

Next up was Youngblood Hawke. I had never heard of them before last month but I dug their single “We Come Running.†That song specifically reminded me of Passion Pit’s newest, maximalist album.…
You might recall that Youngblood Hawke was in town last year with Passion Pit. The band will be releasing Wake Up on April 30th, 2013, on Republic Records. In the meantime, you can still pick up their remix EP for We Come Running, available now.
Speaking of remixes and young: Diamond Rings recently remixed Youngblood Hawke's "Last Time" and Youngblood returned the favor by remixing Diamond Ring's "Runaway Love". You can hear both remixes on Soundcloud.
I would like to take this opportunity to also mention that Diamond Rings will be out on tour with Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (O.M.D.) this year, as we have previously talked about. See dates below.

If you've never heard of Boston's Transit, they are considered an emo band, but takes influences from punk (Blink-182) to pop/emo (Saves the Day). Two years ago, their record, Listen & Forgive, landed on Billboard's Heatseekers chart at #9, and the following year, the band found themselves featured on Warp Tour 2012.
Transit will be releasing their new record, Young New England tomorrow, April 2nd, on Rise Records… just days before the band launch into their Spring 2013 tour. Support for this tour includes Seahaven and another "young"-related band called Young Statues.
Don't know much about Young Statues, they seem like a fairly new band (circa 2010, currently based in New Jersey/Philadelphia area). The band is releasing a new EP tomorrow as well called Age Isn't Our on Run For Cover Records.
Missouri's Young Buffalo is a duo, in the middle of their tour in support of their self-titled EP. The band previously stopped at 7th Street in February with Blessed Feathers, but will be back with Hey Marseilles on April 4th, 2013 (that's this Thursday).

Young Man really is a young man. The youth (named of Colin Caulfield) is a singer/songerwriter, who Esquire magazine called "dorm-room-pop whiz kid" and AOL's Spinner as "wise beyond his years." His album, Beyond Was All Around Me, is coming out April 9th on Frenchkiss Records. You can preview the entire album on Rollingstone.
Starting next week (April 8th), Young Man kicks off a national U.S. tour with Maps & Atlases, a band we previously covered. To give you an idea of what sort of music Young Man play live, he's been on tour with a lot of bands we've covered, including Walkmen, Grouplove, Cold War Kids, Oberhofer and Fanfarlo.

Cowboy Indian Bear's Live Old, Die Young is coming out April 23rd, 2013, on The Record Machine. According to their new biography, the new album was produced by Joshua Browning and featured songwriting spanning over three years through "grueling touring regimen through multiple blizzards, blown tires, shouting matches in art galleries, travels to exotic locales and the loss of beloved family members."
Look for the Kansas ethereal indie rock four-piece to also be doing a small tour in support of their sophomore album:

You may remember hearing me talk about this Denmark band last year, but Choir Of Young Believers is back with a new video called "Paralyze", taken from their sophomore album Rhine Gold (out now on Ghostly International).
Director Anders Malmberg explained his work, "The music serves as the emotional script when you direct promos, and in this case I had the wonderful joy of working with a really strong composed work of music, that indeed challenges the conventional song format, without losing the pathos and pop sensibility that characterize Choir of Young Believers. I listened to the music, and wrote a script. I wanted the film to have a timeless and simple aesthetic, a simple design. So apart from being in love with long dolly shots, I also tried to articulate ideas that are related to different fields within fine art such as sculpture, painting, fashion and photography."
Portland's Young Turks (not to be confused with the Turkish nationalist movement or the record label that signed xx and Wavves) was recently named Alternative Press' "100 Bands You Need to Know in 2013". The young band just recorded their cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire", which you can hear on bandcamp.
All proceeds from the track will benefit the Green Acres Animal Sanctuary in Silverton. Not really sure what being on fire has anything to do with animals… but there you go.
Young Galaxy's Ultramarine is coming out April 23rd, 2013, via Paper Bag Records. This is the band's FOURTH album, recorded in Sweden… their first away from their usual Montreal recording session.
You can check out the new single, "New Summer" at Soundcloud.com.
