Bobby Weir (of the Grateful Dead) will head out on tour starting in Feb 2023. Their tour, billed as Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros (Weir, Don Was, Jay Lane and Jeff Chimenti), features The Wolfpack, a string and brass quintet.

We wrote about the band in 2021: “Who are the Wolf Bros? They’re Bobby Weir, Don Was, and Jay Lane… however, these special shows will feature Jeff Chimenti on keys and Greg Leisz on pedal steel, along with The Wolfpack: Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown.”

We accidentally saw Cory Wong in Ben Rector’s band in Oct 2016 and wrote, “With the last show of the tour, ending a nearly two-year endless touring, the band is well-rehearsed and seemingly eager to finally take a long vacation and break after that night - particularly for guitarist Cory Wong, who is actually from the Twin Cities. Wong, according to The Current in 2014 wrote that Cory Wong is “the most famous Minnesota musician you’ve probably never heard of”.”

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than a decade that London-based Wolf Alice was first formed by singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie.

They actually didn’t release their debut single, “Fluffy”, until 2013, which, of course, we wrote about it in January 22, 2013: “Wolf Alice's debut single, "Fluffy" is out February 11th on Chess Club Records. Despite thinking her name is Alice Wolf, it's really Ellie Rowsell, and her band will be doing a UK tour this year - starting off at the NME Awards Show”.

We caught them at Great Escap 2013: “Brody and Jess just saw Wolf Alice at Coalition in Brighton as part of the Great Escape Music Festival taking this weekend. Wolf Alice's next Great Escape appearance will be on Friday (05/17) at SMACK. It is a free show, with their motto as "no wristband, no problem."”

When they finally played their first concert in Minnesota, in May 2015, we were there to cover it. We noted, “Based on the excited fans and sold out status of the Turf Club, the band will definitely be returning to Minneapolis... except, of course, they'll play a much bigger venue.”

Yes, of course, they played much bigger venues, such as First Avenue in Oct 2015 and Mar 2018. Their finest hour seems to be nominated for a Grammy and winning the 2018 Mercury Prize.

Now, post-pandemic, Wolf Alice is returning to the stage at the sold-out Fine Line Music Café, in Minneapolis, on November 6th.

Fix Yourself, Not The World is the forthcoming album from The Wombats.

The popular band will be heading out on tour to promote the record in 2022, and they’re stopping by the Fillmore in Minneapolis on February 4th. We caught the band in Oct 2018 and wrote, “After some time off, the formerly Liverpool-based trio needed some triangulation logistics (singer Murph is recently married and living in LA, bassist Tord Knudsen has a family in Oslo, and drummer Dan Haggis is settled in London) to all come together, but their playing remains solid despite their distance, and the songs still have their distinctive hummable hooks and choruses amid Murph’s anxious and often somber tragi-comic lyrics.”

Renowned songstress Chelsea Wolfe recently released two unreleased songs from her Birth of Violence sessions: a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” and original “Green Altar”.

Both songs didn’t make it onto the album, but they have special meaning to Wolfe.

We look forward to seeing her back on tour, having last seen her in Aug 2015 and noted, “In typical Wolfe entrance, the entire room was in darkness and one by one the band marched on stage. I've never actually been close to the stage for one of Wolfe's show, so this was the first time that I noticed that there is a distinct smell of incense. Wolfe, in a long black dress with one exposed sleeveless arm and an oddly large patch at the bottom of her dress, started into a banshee-like chorus of "Carrion Flowers".”

Chelsea Wolfe will be playing at Substance LA at The Belasco in Los Angeles on November 26.

Apparently, the stripped-down “Wolf” version was a result of Katy Perry, as Skott said, “I wrote it about the lonely sound of heartbreak, and then all of a sudden Katy Perry’s tweeting me about it. I wanted to make a stripped down version where the lyrics have even more room to do their thing, in a calmer landscape than the more orchestral-ish original. Maggie is in love with Patrick Wolf, it's a shame that she doesn't live in the UK, as it looks like he'll be touring in support of his new album, Lupercalia, released on June 20th.

I don't have the album, but I did read about it - apparently it was called The Conqueror as part of his double-album Battle. The tile and concept was changed to Lupercalia because Wolf thinks his songs are mostly about love pop songs:

"The title refers to the Lupercalia festival, which is the ancient fertility and love festival that happens around Valentine's Day. I strive to be original – it's one of my biggest ambitions. There can be nothing worse sometimes than a soppy love record – imagine if I'd called it To Love: Patrick Wolf!"

Fans will want to look for a special deluxe edition of Lupercalia. See him on tour this year:

Los Lobos (which means "The Wolves" in Spanish) are a multiple Grammy Award–winning rock band. They've been around since the late 70s and their music is a blend of Mexicana and American rock.

Los Lonely Boys will be touring with Los Lobos until August 10th, but it's a really good lineup, especially because the two band have a similar Latin-Rock-Soul sound to them. Since Los Lonely Boys' debut in 2003, they've been selling millions of records and singles, and even playing and recording music with legendary performers like Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana. Look for Los Lonely Boys' latest album, Rockpango, if you see them on tour.

I actually really love The Real Tuesday Weld, I gave his last album The London Book of the Dead a terrific review. If you've never heard of this guy, Stephen Coates, takes old 1930s records and put electronic beats to them, creating what he calls "Antique Beats". It's great, I love it.

The Real Tuesday Weld's latest album is called The Last Werewolf, released July 12th via Six Degrees Records. The sample song they sent out is called "Me and Mr Wolf".
