Patty Smyth, who's often confused with punk poet Patti Smith, is the singer of Scandal. Scandal had a huge hit back in 1984 with "The Warrior" (#7 on the US Charts), and I first discovered them in a box of 45s through a housemate.
I don't think I ever listened to the flipside of the 7", but I remember really enjoying the A-Side. The cover had Patty Smyth transforming into this, er, warrior with the blue and red face makeup (same photo session as featured on the album). The whole "morphing" thing kind of reminds me of Manimal (a short-lived television show in 1983, featuring a dashing young doctor who turns into various animals).
Scandal started in 1981 by guitarist Zack Smith, recruiting all the band members. They came and went and they even had Jon Bon Jovi on as guitarist at one point! Please see sidebar for more information on the various band members.
The band broke up in 1985, but reformed in 2004 courtesy of VH1's Band Reunited. They broke up again after playing a few shows, and reformed once more in 2006 for VH1's "We Are the 80's" tour. It seems that they are still around in 2007, but minus their key star guitarist Zack Smith :/
PS, because Cristina is more interested in these kind of things: outside of music, Smyth is currently married to John McEnroe (the famous tennis star).
