Brooklyn-based ensemble Sammy Rae & The Friends are returning to the area, playing the Palace Theatre in St Paul on October 5th, 2023.

We caught the band on a Halloween-show, on 28 Oct 2022, and noted, “As you can see, Sammy Rae and the Friends were in the Halloween spirit, as everyone was in costume as Scoobie Doo and the Scoobie gang. The band has a ton of fans, and they are certainly one of the funnest band around. The band played all the hit songs, including “Follow Me Like The Moon” and “Good Life”. All the songs were treated like it’s a giant party, with the audience helping to sing and clap along to the song. ”

Having just wrapped up a co-headlining tour with Gregory Alan Isakov in October, two time Grammy winner Patty Griffin will be doing a few live shows in 2022.

Griffin’s latest self-titled album came out in 2019 on PGM Recordings label via Thirty Tigers. The deeply personal album made it on the top 5 debut on Billboard’s “Independent Albums”. The record won a Grammy for “Best Folk Album.”

Support will come from Oklahoma-bred, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Parker Millsap, who recently toured in support of his album Be Here Instead.

We caught Millsap in Sep 2021 and wrote, “A lot have changed with the fifth album Be Here Instead, which marked a stylistic shift from folk / old time music to more experimenting with pedal effects and drums focused. This may have something to do with his departure from writing all his songs with his guitar and notebook, to asking his live band to work with him.”

Little Comets was just in Minneapolis earlier this year in support of Life Is Elsewhere (Dualtone Records), but the UK band just announced a run of dates in October - starting the 16th in Charlotte, North Carolina and ending on Halloween in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band is touring with Atlas Genius and Family of the Year.

In late August, Cage the Elephant's single, "Come a Little Closer" was the #1 most added track on Alternative Radio in the United States. Critics were calling it "the outfit's grooviest effort yet", "good old fashioned indie rocking", and "sweeping sing-along pop".

I believe the song is taken from their forthcoming third studio album, Melophobia, which is coming out October 8th on RCA Records. Fans who pre-order Melophobia on iTunes will receive a free download of "Come A Little Closer".

Christopher reported that Little Boots was "BBC's Sound of 2009" and her music is compared to Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke, Florence and the Machine and Elly Jackson (La Roux), so if you like dance music…

Also, in case you were wondering about the name "Little Boots", apparently it's a nickname her friends gave her because of her unusually small feet. Please let me know if this is true, go see her on this small small US promotional tour (dates listed below). She is not touching the mid-west so I can't report this to be true or not.

The duo is basically comedian and actor Tim Heidecker with his longtime musical collaborator composer/multi-instrumentalist Davin Wood. Some Things Never Stay the Same is the follow-up to 2011's Starting From Nowhere, but this time they are paying homage to 70s songwriters such as Randy Newman, Warren Zevon, Harry Nilsson, and, "even Boz Scaggs".
