Opening the show was non-binary American singer/songwriter Lucy Loone. Originally Loone and Jazmin Bean (along with Cottontail) were supposed to tour in 2020, but the due to the pandemic, the tour was cancelled.
The 7th Street Entry was not a stranger to Loone, who previously played at the venue on September 22, 2023, supporting ZAND.
Songs on Loone’s set includes a couple of milk songs, “MilkMan”, followed by “Whole Milk”. Set closer was “CakeWalk.”
The English singer/songwriter, Internet celebrity Jazmin Bean is from Rock Royalty: their father is Ginger Wildheart (from The Quireboys) and mother is Angie Adams (from Fluffy). Jazmin Bean developed their own unique music/performance style, starting at the age of 15, and soon released the debut single “Worldwide Torture” and same titled EP in 2019. The next year, Island and Interscope Records signed Bean and re-issued the EP with additional tracks.
Jazmin Bean, along with guitarist Ben Simon and drummer (CJ Evans?), exploded on stage. Bean was so excited to play that through hard movements for the first song, “Worldwide Torture”, managed to lose the feedback earpiece.
“I can’t hear myself,” Bean commented. As they were looking for the missing earpiece, it was clear that fans did not care for the technical difficulties. “You sound great!” they shouted back.
Like Bean, the fanbase are all dressed up in outrageous outfits and many came with equally over-the-top extreme makeup. For the fans, it wasn’t just enjoying Bean’s music (which they all know by heart), but it was more of a lifestyle and a way of life.
Hearing Bean talked on stage, they suggested that their music is always evolving, so songs on the debut EP may sound very different from the current singles “Piggie”, “Favourite Toy”, and “Terrified”, on the forthcoming debut studio album Traumatic Livelihood. In fact, Bean was quite nervous to perform the latter song.
Highlight of the set was for the encore, Lucy Loone would appear on stage to sing on their collaboration 2022 single “Carnage.”
With over half a billion streams of Bean’s music, it’s easy to see why the current “The Terrified Tour” have sold out across North America.
Jazmin Bean’s debut album Traumatic Livelihood is expected to be released in February 2024.
