Alex Ridha, aka Boys Noize, announced recently that he will be co-headlining a tour with Baauer.

The 24 tour dates finds Boys Noize returning to Mill City Nights in Minneapolis in mid-October. We caught Boys Noize last year at the same venue, where Gretchen compared Ridha to Tchaikovsky, "performing the last movement of his number 4 symphony."

80/90s indie-rock band Ashtray Boy (aka singer-songwriter Randall Lee from The Cannanes) will have all nine albums available for download and streaming platforms for the first time, via Minty Fresh Records. You may recall that I was rather impressed by The Cannanes' comeback EP last year.

All-girl American-British-Canadian group G.R.L. is releasing their debut self-titled EP today, July 29th via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records. The EP features their current single "Ugly Heart" with a video that has already racked up over 4.8 million views.

Described by People Magazine as "the sexy new girl-group" and Time Magazine calling "the rising girl group go for the jugular with a stampeding new single," I'm sure we'll be hearing more from G.R.L. in the future.

Portland, Oregon's Shy Girls (songwriter and vocalist Dan Vidmar) recently release "All for Show" via Red Bull Sound Select. You can hear the track via soundcloud.com.

They describe this new song as a departure from Shy Girls' usual sound and citing it more closer to a Jono Ma's (of Jagwar Ma) influence.

Look for Shy Girls to perform live in Chicago on Sunday, August 3rd at this year's Lollapalooza, as well as the Official Lollapalooza after party featuring Jhene Aiko on Saturday, August 2nd.

Since I moved for 2013, I've been on limited/metered internet, which basically means I can't really download or stream music. Thankfully I still randomly get these things called "compact discs" in the mail, so I've been reviewing those instead (I will be reviewing six albums from Mute Records very soon!)

THE CANNANES

Australia's The Cannanes are back. It's been four years since their last EP, but according to Fran Gibson and Stephen O'Neil, they'll be releasing a full length album Howling at All Hours in 2013 (and will likely do a world tour in support of it.)

I got a chance to listen to their preceding EP, Small Batch, which coming out on March 19th, 2013, and I have to say: I LOVE IT.

Singer Gibson sounds a little older, but she still sings well. My favorite and "danciest" song, "Basics", reminds me of why I love St Etienne, while their single, "Bumper", reminds me of the best parts of any indie-pop songs: a catchy melody, easy-on-the-ears vocals, a dash of odd horns section, and an extended psychedelic sixties organs/keys solo.

MARCHING BAND marchingband.se Sweden's indie-pop duo Marching Band will be releasing And I've Never Seen Anything Like That on January 15th, 2013. You know I love all things Sweden, so I will check it out when I'm not so internet-lacking. Personally, I've never heard of them, but they tell me that if you watch Jersey Shore, you can hear their music in the final season. Hear the title track now:
