It is a Bank Holiday Monday here in the United Kingdom. To celebrate this year's May Day I thought I would post one of my favourite British DJs. I know the names of about five DJs so the competition to be considered among my favourites isn't that great.
The origin of his name is some obscure science fiction movie, he is the one, the only DJ Yoda. Amongst his musical accomplishments, DJ Yoda has scored the music to Film Four trailers as well as the Tesco adverts. The first track I give you is a bootleg recording from BBC Radio One's
Annie Mac show. It is available on his
website or, alternatively, downloaded via a simple google search. Other recordings with his name to them include a series of "How To Cut
and Paste" mix tapes and other bootleg recordings.
DJ Yoda released his first proper album called "The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda" in 2006. The second track is taken from this album and includes a personal sample from Luke Skywalker himself.
For fans of live music, he will be touring throughout 2007 including the Glastonbury festival (UK), the Big Chill (UK), Summer Sundae (UK), a Diesel Store Launch (China) and Bestival (UK).
A selection of his records are available at
Amazon UK,
Amazon USA and
iTunes - Ryan
