We caught Flipturn in October 2022 and wrote, “Flipturn’s been enjoying selling out multiple shows on their current headlining tour. The reasons that singer recounted was, “People just discovered us on their own. They'd hear about our shows, they'd check us out, and they'd keep coming back. Charlotte Sands is currently on tour in support of her debut album can we start over?. Sands’ tour will stop in at the Amsterdam Bar & Hall, in St Paul, on March 25, 2024.

The pop star was nominated for Breakthrough Artist and winning at London’s Heavy Music Awards and have already performed with My Chemical Romance and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Senses to open. We caught them in March 2023 and wrote, “Next up was Los Angeles trio Senses, featuring singer/guitarist Madison Taylor, guitarist Josh Bissell and drummer Nick Sampson. They played hard rock/alternative, emotional punk, as evident by their Fall Out Boy cover of “Sugar, We're Goin Down”. Right before playing their single “Sleepwalking”, Josh goofed and thanked “Milwaukee”. Madison quickly corrected him (seeing as she’s wearing a Prince T-Shirt), “Minneapolis! Josh is buying drinks for everyone!””

Brooklyn-based band San Fermin is on tour in support of their fifth studio album Arms via their rising independent label Better Company Records. The tour will stop in at the Turf Club in St Paul, March 26, 2024.

We saw the band in Apr 2017 and wrote, “In stark contrast, San Fermin’s performance was bright and full of brilliant colors. They have stepped up their game, especially since we saw them in 2014 and 2016 and very little effort was put in stage production. With the Belong tour, San Fermin had custom background and custom color-changing lights... making their show, at least visually, very appealing.”

Wisconsin’s Carlie Hanson just headlined the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on Sunday, March 12th. The singer/songwriter is touring in support of her sophomore album Wisconsin.

Opening the show was Minneapolis’ Floodwater Angel, a band that we previously mentioned opened up for RiGBY in July 2022.

The local group started in 2020 with their album Oddities & Odysseys, which they described as a ‘practice’ album. Their first ‘proper’ album Glitter Cannons came out in 2021 and was influenced by 70s glam.

Their latest, Dungeon Crawlers came out recently, and it’s their psych rock album. True enough, in their very brief 15-min set, they sounded like they were playing just one very long song in a cloud of fog machine.

Next up was Los Angeles trio Senses, featuring singer/guitarist Madison Taylor, guitarist Josh Bissell and drummer Nick Sampson. They played hard rock/alternative, emotional punk, as evident by their Fall Out Boy cover of “Sugar, We're Goin Down”.

Right before playing their single “Sleepwalking”, Josh goofed and thanked “Milwaukee”. Madison quickly corrected him (seeing as she’s wearing a Prince T-Shirt), “Minneapolis! Josh is buying drinks for everyone!”

They seem to have some fans in the audience, with one girl giving the band a homemade sign that reads “SENSES”… while near their end of their set, they invited a very young girl (maybe 13 or 14?) on stage to help them close out the song “See You Go”.

Next up on the lineup was Halo Boy, his first time in Minneapolis. Judging from his songs, such as “Burn Down Hollywood”, I’m sure he’s from Los Angeles, like Senses. That song was the highlight of his set. I found out later that the explosive angst song is about his ex, who ruined everything about the city for him.

Most of his set were songs from his new album, Sim City, including the title track “Sim City” (which started off the set), “Fame”, and “She’s Got a Gun”.

Carlie Hanson walked on stage to the “That 70’s Show” theme song by Todd Griffin (which is based on Big Star’s “In the Streets”). This is important, because the show and theme song is all about “still rockin’ in Wisconsin” and it’s certainly the theme to her new album Wisconsin… which recently dropped on March 10, 2023.

She explained on stage that, although she’s living in Los Angeles now, her heart belongs to the Midwest. In fact, her mother, her sister, and her girlfriend, were all in the audience, making the 7th Street Entry show somewhat of a homecoming/family support show for Hanson.

Hanson has come a long way since we saw her unintentionally in Oct 2018. She wasn’t listed on the bill, and we had no idea who she was when she started her brief set. Even at that show, we noted that her best friends drove from Wisconsin to see her play.

New York artist VÉRITÉ will be headlining the 7th Street Entry on March 10th, 2023. She’s been on a long North American tour with Fletcher… but will now be headlining her own tour starting in March.

We saw VÉRITÉ in May 2016 and wrote, “When Vérité came on stage, playing ‘Echo’, she immediately felt love from her dancing section (aka her biggest fans) in the front. The fans previously saw her with Ms Mr last October 2015, and raved about her modern love songs. Vérité always made sure she appreciated people for showing up to her show, “I’m so happy to see you all here.””

Wisconsin’s Carlie Hanson is on a headlining tour, stopping by the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, in support of her sophomore album Wisconsin. Taylor Swift is a fan, and included Hanson’s demo “Only One” on her list of favorite songs of 2017. Recently, the young singer teamed up with boundary-pushing, multimedia artist Groupthink with their song “Miss Carolina.”

For twenty minutes, we accidentally saw Carlie Hanson at the Troye Sivan show (she wasn’t on the bill!) in Oct 2018 and wrote, “First on the lineup was Carlie Hanson (who was a surprise as she’s not listed on the venue’s website). Hanson is joined by a live guitarist (sorry didn’t catch his name) and typically shirtless Tosh Peterson (Tosh the Drummer). Since her set time was so short (20 minutes), there was very little banter between songs. We did learn that she’s from St Croix, Wisconsin, and mentioned that some of her best friends drove all that way to see her in Minneapolis.”

Senses (stylized as senses) is described as a punk influenced pop-rock band – making addictive pop songs like "Sleepwalking". The band originated in Los Angeles when singer Madison Taylor met guitarist Josh Bissell and drummer Nick Sampson on Craigslist.

Alternative/pop 18-year-old singer artist Jessie Murph (not to be confused with Jessie Murphy) will be heading out on her first ever North American tour in support of her debut mixtape. It is set to release February 10th and will also include songs “Always Been You,” “If I Died Last Night,” and “Pray” as well as three new tracks.

One of those new song is called “About You”. The track was recorded with Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, Noah Kahan) and Yakob (6lack, Giveon), and drew inspiration from her personal experience with a toxic relationship.

Note: Murph’s show was upgraded to the Fine Line, from the 7th Street Entry.

For 24-year-old singer/songwriter Maddie Zahm is headlining the Amsterdam Bar & Hall in St Paul on March 12. The Boise-bred artist recently released her debut EP You Might Not Like Her, a project that intimately documents the massive upheaval she’s experienced over the last year: a life-changing journey that includes leaving the stifling church community where she long served as a worship leader, losing weight, moving to Los Angeles and coming out as queer.

Her single, “Fat Funny Friend” was a viral hit, amassing over 75+ million streams, and is about per personal trauma, her sexuality, and her relationship with her body.
