In honor of the Festival Ladies, here are some updates on some forthcoming music festivals.
Also, I've resurrected news.weheartmusic.com (all music-related press releases will be published there, in full).

NEBRASKA POP FESTIVAL
nepopfest2011.blogspot.com
Where: Omaha, Nebraska
When: 09-14 August 2011
Cost: $7 per show
Nebraska Pop Festival starts tomorrow and ends on the 14th. I've previously mentioned this festival before, all the artists are generally local indie artists... although I did noticed there is one Swedish one, Since Our First Guitar.
The pricing is decent (under $10), and since all proceeds goes to Arts for All, Inc., you'll feel good about giving to the music community. Too bad I don't live near Omaha, I would like to attend.
BELOVED SACRED ART & MUSIC FESTIVAL
belovedfestival.com
Where: Tidewater, Oregon
When: 11-15 August 2011
Cost: FREE
It wasn't made clear on their website, but it looks like this music festival, taking place this week, is free. There are parking and camping costs, but they are minimal compared to a typical big music festival.
The music lineup features a lot of "world" music, from Mali to Tibet, etc.
So what is "sacred" music? Their website explains:
POP MONTREAL
popmontreal.com
Where: Montreal, Canada
When: 21-25 September 2012
Cost: Expensive
I've previously mentioned Pop Montreal, but I thought I'd mention them again because for the 10th anniversary, that in association with SiriusXM Canada, they are presenting a FREE outdoor show of The Arcade Fire for one night on September 22nd, 2011, in downtown Montreal. That is a great price (free), but if you intend to buy their superpass, it'll set you back $333.
For individual shows, pricing in advance averages around $12 - see for details at news.weheartmusic.com.
THE GARDEN FESTIVAL CROATIA
www.thegardenfestival.eu
Where: Petrcane, Croatia
When: 04-11 July 2012
Cost: £80 Early rates
Just announced is The Garden Festival Croatia for July 4th to 11th of 2012, yep, just a year away.
Early bird tickets are available now at £80, but limited to 200 tickets. Details on their official website.

So what is "sacred" music? Their website explains:
When seeking the mystic's view, there is no difference between sacred and profane. "Sacredness" is a quality of attention. Focused awareness can elevate a seemingly mundane act into a space of rapturous appreciation. Loving mindfulness is the key to the realm of the sacred within the mundane world.
Devotion to a source of inspiration brings out a special quality in art or music that is produced under its influence. This quality infuses those who join in with the overflowing hearts of both musicians and dancers.

Excerpt from their press release:
Nick Colgan, one of the festival’s founders, says that, “We had a great festival this summer with a sold out crowd and the village was buzzing for 7 days and nights. For 2012 we will be on for a full week again, and are already working on our target list to perform. The site looked the best yet this year and the overall feel was amazing from start to finish, with some outstanding sets from Odyssey, Greg Wilson and Tensnake. We’re already looking forward to 2012!”
