Alt-pop icon Lights will be headlining the Varsity Theater on May 3rd, in support of her new album PƎP (Fueled By Ramen Records). The album has already received praises from NPR, who said the album had “insanely catchy hooks.”
We saw Lights in Nov 2015 and wrote, “The singer (aka Valerie Poxleitner) seemed comfortable in black tank and overalls, dodging from side to side and reaching out to audience members’ extended hands. A bonus track, from last year’s Little Machines (Warner Bros Records), ‘From All Sides’ started her show, with ‘Toes’ and ‘Siberia’ from her previous 2011 album, following.”
According to the poster, Tillie will open.

Anand Wilder

Anand Wilder , from Yeasayer, is finally releasing his solo album I Don’t Know My Words on Last Gang, and is going on tour to support the record. Wilder was responsible for some of Yeasayer’s biggest hits, such as “O.N.E.” and “Wait for the Summer”.
The solo work is a little more down-to-earth, with traditional musical instruments… Wilder said, “After some initial attempts at collaborating with outside musicians, I realized that I needed to have my hands on every aspect of recording my first solo effort. So much of the pleasure of making this album was reigniting my childhood passion for challenging myself to pick up any instrument.”
We caught Yeasayer in June 2019 and said, “The audience, who were all clearly there for Yeasayer, didn’t mind the darkness and danced to all the tunes. If you’re a fan of Animal Collective, they do share a similar music style… and even share their alma mater of Park School of Baltimore.”
