Jesse Jo Stark (10 Oct 2018)

We actually really love her set from
10 Oct 2018 writing, “Los Angeles’ Jesse Jo Stark actually started their set ten minutes earlier than advertised. It’s literally unheard of with rock ‘n roll shows, but that meant a little more music from Stark. I’m glad they squeezed in a few extra songs on their set, because I couldn’t get enough of their music! Their music sounds a bit like Angelfish (pre-Garbage), early Curve (pre-techno), and a little Mazzy Star (but not as sleepy). It’s driven by catchy muscular guitar hooks and Jesse Jo Stark’s seductive vocals. ”
Rachel Bobbitt to open. Bobbitt is touring in support of
The Half We Still Have EP. The collection of songs were produced and mixed by Jorge Elbrecht (Sky Ferreira, Japanese Breakfast) at 80A Studios in Toronto, and features Bobbitt's close musical partner, Justice Der (guitar/e-bow), Stephen Bennett (drums/percussion), Isaac Teague (bass), Sam Laramee (synth) along with Alex George (strings).

10/01 Clannad at The Fitzgerald Theater

10/01/2023 Sunday Clannad at The Fitzgerald Theater first-avenue.com Irish band
Clannad (which means "family" in Gaelic) is making a rare US appearance at the Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul, playing their last-ever show just over a week later in Seattle before retirement. The band started in the 1970s, and currently surviving siblings, Ciarán Brennan, Moya Brennan, and Pól Brennan, are on tour in support of a career-spanning anthology,
In a Lifetime. Oh, and youngest Brennan sister is
Enya, though don't expect an appearance here.
Most US fans came to know the band through their fellow Irish musicians in U2, who would play their "Theme from Harry's Game" as an outro at concerts through 1987. This final tour has resumed after being delayed by the pandemic, with the St. Paul stop being presented by The Celtic Junction Arts Center.
This is their “Farewell Tour”, so you cannot absolutely miss this tour if you love Clannad. Fans can pay a little more to do a VIP Meet & Greet, which will include a Tour Program, Tote Bag, photo of the band, etc.

We caught Chappell Roan in
12 Oct 2017 and said, “With only a debut EP School Nights for Atlantic Records, Roan played all those songs (with the exception of ‘Sugar High’), and showcased her wonderful dark breathy vocals. She did throw in a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’, sitting at the keyboard, where she remained for the rest of her brief 30-min set.”
