BOBBY WEIR & WOLF BROS
bobweir.net
Legendary Grateful Dead founder Bobby Weir will be playing live at the UC Berkeley Greek Theatre on July 24th. The show is billed as Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros.
Who are the Wolf Bros? They’re Bobby Weir, Don Was, and Jay Lane… however, these special shows will feature Jeff Chimenti on keys and Greg Leisz on pedal steel, along with The Wolfpack: Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown.
Previous Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros shows have sold out, so if you really wanted to see them, you can pre-order the tickets (which went on sale on June 25th).
I haven’t been to the Greek Theatre since I saw Elvis Costello in 1996, and I can tell you that there’s not a bad seat in the house.

REMI WOLF
remiwolf.com
Dog lover Remi Wolf (she wrote “You're A Dog!”, “I'm Allergic To Dogs!”, “We Love Dogs!”, etc) recently released her new standalone solo track “Liz”.
Apparently the song isn’t that new - Wolf would perform “Liz” at her live shows, but only recently decide to release an official version as a thank you to her loyal fans: “I wanted to share “Liz" as a gift to my little Remjobs who have been with me since the beginning and have been asking for this song everyday over the last few years. I’ve been performing “Liz" on tour for forever and to finally have a studio version I’m proud of and can share with my OG babies feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest. This record shows a different side of my work...I felt so happy and free creating this song and I hope it makes whoever is listening feel the same.”
If you like dance/art rock, you can hear Beck and Hot Chip influences in her songs.

DANA AND THE WOLF
danaandthewolf.com Burbank-based Dana and the Wolf (Dana Hobson and Daniel Wolf) recently released “2 Lovers.” The song is, obviously, about two lovers, and Dana talked about her frustrations about people’s misunderstanding about open relationships, “Every time I hear about someone being poly, they’re either misusing the word or saying it like a whisper. I just am so sick of people pussy footing around something that is not only a better lifestyle to live, but makes more sense to humankind. So I’m gonna be the mother f**ker that stands up and says ‘I’m non-monogamous, and if you’re not, you’re a f**king idiot.’” |
MASKED WOLF maskedwolf.com Australian rapper Masked Wolf recently dropped his brand new track “Gravity Glidin’.” Masked Wolf described the song, “‘Gravity Glidin’ is the response to Astro. Where ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ is about not being where I should be, this song is about me feeling like I’ve found my place and finally gliding through the environment I was born to be in.” Masked Wolf is referring to his Top 40 (at #10) radio hit song “Astronaut In The Ocean”. In addition, the song spent 14 weeks in Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #6 and holding at #11. |
SKOTT
skottmusic.com “Wolf” (acoustic version) is the new single from critically acclaimed Swedish singer, songwriter, and producer Skott. The song is taken from her Chapter I (Acoustic) EP. Apparently, the stripped-down “Wolf” version was a result of Katy Perry, as Skott said, “I wrote it about the lonely sound of heartbreak, and then all of a sudden Katy Perry’s tweeting me about it. I wanted to make a stripped down version where the lyrics have even more room to do their thing, in a calmer landscape than the more orchestral-ish original. This has always been my favorite song to sing live.” |
JULIA WOLF twitter.com/juliawolfnyc Italian-American indie-pop artist from Queens, NY, Julia Wolf (aka WOLF) released “RBF: Part 1,” an exclusive Spotify Singles track as a part of the platform’s first-ever Fresh Finds program. Wolf explains the title, “I’ve been told I can have a ‘resting b*tch face,’ which I used to take personally but now I know it's not a negative thing. I've learned over the years how being too nice can translate to people taking advantage of you and, growing up especially, I was overly accepting of that behavior... being certain of yourself and finding that power in you to say ‘No’ can also label you as a ‘b*tch.’ In a twisted way it feels like a compliment that I'm doing something right.” |
