Broadcast is from Birmingham in the UK and could be characterised as a darker sounding Stereolab with a more pronounced sixties/movie feel to them.

 

Come On Let's Go is their 7th single and can be found on their second album The Noise Made By People from 2000.

They have made five albums - the latest The Future Crayon (a collection of EPs/rarities) was released last year.

Nothing else to say about this one except that it is a great track - especially the Beatleish drums. Enjoy!

These New Puritans

I have lately been bumping into the name These New Puritans on various forums quite often and finally decided to see what all the fuss is about.

Apparently, all band members are still (just) in their teens and live in Southend-On-Sea in the UK. They have so far released a 7" single in November 2006 called Now Pluvial EP. I assume more is to come. The video here is a live version of the first track Elvis of the EP. As you will hear, they don't quite sound like your average band. In fact, I haven't heard anything quite like it. The singer does resemble Mark E. Smith from The Fall somewhat, though.

After hearing this a couple of times, I'm starting to quite like this even if it is a bit art-schoolish. There is certainly energy there. Trivia: They were asked to create the music to Dior Homme's Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 fashion show. Not bad for a bunch of teenagers!

This is Mads. I just joined the team here as the first european. I'm danish but currently living in Finland where it is damn cold at the moment, I can tell you!

But enough about me and let's get to the music. Stereolab was formed in London in 1991 and have ever since kept their unique style regardless of the passing trends. They mix electronic and acoustic instruments in a very sixties french kind of way.

In 2005 and 2006, they released 7 limited edition 7" singles but I guess they realized that that is no way to make money. So they put all the singles on the Fab Four Suture CD and it is from this compilation that this track is taken.

Trivia: The drummer on their first records was a guy called Joe Dilworth (who later left the band to drum for Th' Faith Healers). Now, you might actually have seen some of his photography work as he was one of the main photographers used by many bands in the nineties such as My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses and Manic Street Preachers. He is still used today by e.g. Franz Ferdinand. Check www.joedilworth.com to see some of his work.
