The Head & The Heart is currently on tour in support of their fourth album Living Mirage. The group will be stopping by the Armory in Minneapolis this Wednesday, September 18th. If you can’t make it to the show, you can still live stream the event on Amazon Music.
We last saw the band in Oct 2014 and said, “After an almost two hour delay, the crowd was released back outside and crowded the main stage (where extended applause took place for the stagehand that removed the protective plastic from the high stagelights) for Seattle favorites, The Head and the Heart, who had maybe the biggest overall sound of the festival acts. Led by co-vocalists Josiah Johnson, Charity Rose Thielen, and Jonathan Russell, the band’s 50 min. set leaned heavily on last year’s Let’s Be Still (Sub Pop Records) and the damp crowd showed why Minneapolis is one of the band’s best markets.”

We first discovered Finnish group Kardemimmit in Feb 2013: “After some research I discovered that Introducing Kardemimmit is a rebranded, reissued Kaisla. Now I know next to nothing about the music scene in Finland - aside from watching a documentary claiming tango was invented in Finland - but Kardemimmit's Kaisla was a lesson well learned. The album has a magical, medieval vibe to it. I initially attributed this magic to the harp, however the main instrument is actually the kantele, which has apparently existed for approximately 2,000 years and yet nobody told me about it.”
The Finnish group is back at the Cedar Cultural Center this Sunday, September 15th. Special guest Lynn O’Brien to open.

We last saw her in Dec 2016 and noted, “The mood shifted to hazy, experimental, and more theatric as Orange County electro-pop singer-songwriter Banks was next, playing many songs from her newest, The Altar (Harvest Records) for the very first time before a live audience.
