American rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and actor, Lil Yachty headlined the Fillmore in Minneapolis on November 2nd.
Opening the show was rap group Concrete Family. The four rappers, Camo, Draft Day, Moe, and Karrahboo, they all took turns rapping, interactive with the crowd. They passed a blunt with the crowd and came off stage and took pictures with the fans
Next up was Brooklyn’s Nick Hakim, playing songs from his three ATO albums, Green Twins, Will This Make Me Good, and Cometa. Hakim has a very mellow-chill vibe, and did not say much between songs… except to greet the crow. He seems like a very quiet guy.
Lil Yachty closed out the night. Lil Yatchty’s crew and back up singers started off with “drive ME crazy!” … before the singer came through part of his song. He then covered Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight.”
He had a full all-women band for half his set, which included bassist Téja Veal, guitarist Quenequia Graves, keyboardist Kennedy Avery Smith, a great drummer named Monica Carter, and two vocalists, Lea Grace Swinson and Romana R. Sainti.
Of course, the crowd pleaser of his set was “Minnesota”, which the crowd went wild when they started playing it. The song is very much beloved in the state.
Lil Yachty’s fifth, and latest, album Let's Start Here is out now on Motown Records and Quality Control Music. This is his first studio album since Lil Boat 3 and mixtape Michigan Boy Boat in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
