Bahamas w/Fortunate Ones, Knuckleheads, $25
Canadian singer-songwriter Bahamas (aka Afie Jurvanen) has a just released country-inspired sixth studio album, Bootcut, via Brushfire Records, and is out in support with a 32-show trek. We caught the Nova Scotia-based artist way back in 2012 in Minneapolis, when our E-I-C Vu noted they had more of a 50’s sound.
Arrive early for Newfoundland contemporary folk duo, Fortunate Ones, in support of their 2022 album, That Was You and Me, of which the band says of its recent single, “A Thousand Tiny Ways was written about the many ways, both good and bad, that a heart can break."
Lucinda Williams, Uptown Theater, $39-$99.
The legendary troubadour is on the road again, in support of her latest album, Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart, which includes a five-night stand at the Dakota in Minneapolis back in late July. The “Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets” tour is described as a multimedia experience in which Williams will both perform songs from throughout her discography and share stories and anecdotes with the audience. The new album was recorded while Williams was recovering from a stroke she suffered a few years back and features backing vocals from Bruce Springsteen, Margo Price, Angel Olsen, Tommy Stinson, Jeremy Ivey, and more.
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 11
The Darkness, The Truman, $30-$60
The longtime UK rockers are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album Permission to Land and its hit single “I Believe in a Thing Called Love, performing the album in its entirety, as well as a “best of the rest” portion of the set. And, the band does perform, playing every show like it’s a sold-out stadium.
“When Permission to Land landed, 20 short years ago, we were bathed in shock and awe,” commented frontman Justin Hawkins in a press release. “As if by magic, rock wasn’t dead! Fun wasn’t banned! And Spandex was almost acceptable again… Well, guess what? Twenty years on, the same rules apply. So please to squeeze yourselves into those inappropriate leggings, back-comb your mullet, splash on a big handful of attitude, and come celebrate with us! We promise everything and we deliver, every time. Bring on the next 20!” Three levels of VIP packages are additionally available.
Jessie Murph, The Midland, $25-$30
If you missed her last year at The Truman, she returns on her 'Cowboys and Angels Tour' before soon heading to Australia and New Zealand followed by the UK and Europe.

In May she shared "Cowboys and Angels," which, along with "Texas (ft. Maren Morris)," ushers in a new era for Jessie. More recently, Jessie collaborated with Diplo and Polo G on "Heartbroken," which is went Top 40 at US Pop radio. We caught her last year in Minneapolis.

Jason Aldean w Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent, Dee Jay Silver, T-Mobile Center, $49.75-$179.75
The Country star in out on his 2023 Highway Desperado Tour and had brought with him, “We Got History” singer Mitchell Tenpenny, “Wild as Her” hitmaker Corey Kent, and newcomer Dee Jay Silver on this 41-date Summer/Fall tour.
Aldean’s “That’s What Tequila Does” went Top 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, and the track is included on Aldean’s 2022 double album Macon, Georgia. The project also features Aldean’s Grammy-nominated track “If I Didn’t Love You,” with Carrie Underwood, as well as the three-week chart-topper “Trouble With a Heartbreak.” His live shows have thrice earned him the Academy of Country Music’s entertainer of the year honor, and in 2019, he earned the ACM’s Dick Clark Artist of the Decade award.
Langhorne Slim and John Craigie, The Madrid, $60
The folk troubadours are joining forces for an intimate but powerful tour. Langhorne Slim hadn't written songs for a while, following a battle with clinical anxiety disorder and prescription drug abuse, a tornado in East Nashville, his adopted hometown and then the Covid-19 pandemic. But the songs soon came and make up his 7th album, Strawberry Mansion, out via Dualtone Records.
John Cragie is a Portland, OR-based singer, songwriter who adapts moments of solitude into stories as evidenced on his 2022 full-length album, Mermaid Salt.
Jackie Venson, Knuckleheads, $15
We were knocked out when we saw guitarist Venson open for fellow Austin native Gary Clark, Jr. back in 2017 in St. Paul, and she's only gotten better since. Originally a classical pianist, she picked up the guitar, shortly after graduating from Berklee College of Music, and made the leap from traditional classical music to raw and gritty Texas blues. Venson released a Live in Austin record last year and has new album, Evolution of Joy, also out now.
