San Francisco indie-pop trio Hot Flash Heat Wave returns to the Minneapolis/St Paul area… by playing The Treasury in St Paul on March 28th. We’ve never heard of the venue before, but it is an alcohol-free all-ages music venue (and educational facility), operated by the 501c3 nonprofit Twin Cities Catalyst Music.

Hot Flash Heat Wave’s new album Sportswear is out tomorrow (March 11).

When we saw Liz Phair earlier in June 2018, the number one complaint we had was that it felt stripped down, especially without a drummer (even some “jackass” in the audience yelled, “You need a drummer, Liz!” at the show). All that will be addressed in this upcoming “Amps on the Lawn” long sold out show at First Avenue.

Indiepop band Speedy Ortiz to open. We last saw them in May 2015 and wrote, “Speedy Ortiz's hour-long set was interesting. First of all, the band doesn't do encores; they just play an extra two songs and then immediately head over to the merch table. Like many independent bands, they make most of their money playing these shows and selling directly to fans.”
