It is all about Rock the Garden this Saturday. This will be the second year which the Rock the Garden show return to the Walker Arts Center. We kind of know what to expect: the large main stage and a minor, smaller stage for the local bands. This year’s Garden stage will feature U.S. Girls, Chastity Brown, and P.O.S..

Over at the main stage, snarky Father John Misty will headline... however, personally speaking, we’re pretty excited that Feist will also share the stage. We’ve seen Broken Social Scene (with Feist) a few times, but it’ll be fun to see doing Feist’s solo songs.

As for Father John Misty, we’ve been watching him since Fleet Foxes and as J Tillman. We have to say that our favorite so far is his reinvention as Father John Misty. This should be a really fun and memorable Rock the Garden night.

Porland's Horse Feathers is back with a new album So It Is With Us (Kill Rock Stars), which was recorded in a barn in rural Oregon. And it's true that I've called them hipsters before....

Their tour mate is Sara Jackson-Holman, who is embarking on her very first US tour in support of her latest 6-track EP River Queen (Expunged Records). The new album is "her best work to date", according to Portland Mercury.

We previously mentioned the Portland-based pianist/singer-songwriter when she talked about her sophomore album Cardiology, in 2012.

Also, listed to appear in the St Paul show is local artist John Mark Nelson, a man we've seen three times live. And every time was extremely grateful to play to any audience.

I'll be honest, I'm not fond of the name Wet (not to be confused with hard rockers W.E.T.), the same uneasy feeling I get when I hear Moist or Pubes... which I'm sure are all band names by now?

The New York band recently showcased their music video for "Don't Wanna Be Your Girl", with help from female-run erotic magazine Beauty Today, who directed the clip. Look for their debut LP on Columbia Records in 2015... in the meantime, catch them this November 23rd before they become too popular.

If there's anything to be learned from the IFC's "Portlandia", it's that Porland, Oregon, is full of music and hipsters. Horse Feathers was originally a duo (Justin Ringle and Nathan Crockett) from that magical land, and this time, they're joined by eleven additional instrumentalists! When they play live, I hope they pick a big stage. To be honest, I don't think they'll be bringing the 11 extra players on their massive tour (see below). What I can tell you is that they'll be playing with Brown Bird, which we previously mentioned.

Horse Feathers' fourth album, Cynic's New Year will be out next week, April 17th, via Kill Rock Stars Records. KRS is holding a contest for these guys, staring last Tuesday, you can post on their Facebook page your most cynical New Year's Resolution and you might win a signed test pressing of Horse Feathers' new album.

I Break Horses is a Swedish duo, Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck. The Guardian described their music as "heady, sumptuously textured soundscapes", and Pitchfork said they "immerse themselves in homemade shoegaze, the kind that's made by computers for computers."

If I get a chance, I will try and listen to them before Amy & Emily's Shoegaze podcast, which will go into recording this pot-day, April 20th.

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, the band is so new (with Hearts just released last August) that this will be their "first ever tour"…. And how awesome will that be playing to a ton of sold-out shows with M83?

Remember how much I liked seeing An Horse live? I can tell they were really great friends, seeing them on stage, and reading their biography, it just confirms it for me. Apparently, the two (Kate Cooper and Damon Cox) have known each other so well that playing and writing music comes so easily for them.

Drummer Cox puts it best, about their second album, Walls: "We'd worked in the record store together for a couple of years and talked every day — even on days off — mostly about music and film, which we continue to do every day now. After listening to music all day together at work for two years, we had a really clear idea of what we liked and disliked musically."

Since they've just wrapped up their tour with Nada Surf, the band is back in their home country, Australia, for some shows:
