You may remember that I caught Veronica Falls last year and called them shy and cute. As it were, the band is back with their sophomore album, Waiting For Something To Happen, which just came out last Tuesday (February 12th) On Slumberland/Bella Union.
Singer/guitarist Roxanne Clifford commented on their "new" sound and confused at their "goth pop" association, "You know, it’s really weird, because when you start a band, and you start writing songs together, you never think anybody else is going to hear them. You're just kind of writing it for yourselves. Songs like “Found Love in a Graveyard†and “Beachy Headâ€, we thought they were playful and not serious at all..."
They're wrong, of course, Veronica Falls certainly have their fanbase. Check them out on tour - they are returning to Minneapolis on March 16th, playing next door to fellow Londoners Django Django.
