Oxford's Swervedriver recently played the Turf Club in St Paul last Thursday, March 12th.

We actually weren't meant to cover the show (I was over at Gang of Four at the Varsity Theater), but I felt Swervedriver's return to music (with a first full-length album I Wasn't Born to Lose You in 17 years) was important enough to at least mention, even if it's only briefly.

Gateway Drugs opened up the show. The band is on tour for their debut LP Magick Spells (Cobraside).

The Los Angeles band is described as if "Sonic Youth and The Birthday Party got together and had kids".

Like many of the 2,000+ bands out on tour now, the group is heading to SXSW 2015 in Austin, Texas.

Swervedriver is also heading down to SXSW, this year (they've already announced a free show). Expect to see the band continue their tour to the East Coast after SXSW.

Setlist

As you can see from their autographed setlist, the band played almost all of their new album I Wasn't Born to Lose You, with the exception of "English Subtitles" and "Red Queen Arms Race". The other half of their set was older material, including the classic 1993 album Mezcal Head (the album with the bull on the cover), including these two songs that ended their set, "Girl On A Motorbike" and "Duel".

If you love the new album I Wasn't Born to Lose You, you definitely need to catch the band on this 2015 tour.
