Filligar - Peppermint

Filligar has a new album out 13th October 2007 called The City Tree. They are from Chicago, Illinois, and have been around since 2002, but had a different name for the band: Flipside. If I were to hazard a guess why they changed their name, it's probably because Flipside is such a common moniker.

All of the band members are Mathias brothers, with the exception of they keyboard player Casey Gibson.

 

The song I've picked out for you is called "Peppermint" which kind of has this britpop/indie feel to the song. The intro drums are great and makes you want to tap your toes.

The lyrics are kind of weird, I'm not really sure what it's about. Here's the chorus:

So one hot evening
the peppermint shakes won't melt
and weekends won't end up as usual
and yeah, we can talk about a lot of things
like what a lame reason it was
that recently my hands were full

(Which I thought he said, "hands and foot").
