The original vocalist for Faith No More, Chuck Mosley, has died on Thursday at the age of 57. His family wrote, “After a long period of sobriety, Charles Henry Mosley III lost his life, on November 9th, 2017, due to the disease of addiction. We’re sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wake up call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety. He is survived by long-term partner Pip Logan, two daughters, Erica and Sophie and his grandson Wolfgang Logan Mosley. The family will be accepting donations for funeral expenses.”
Opening up the show was Brilliant Beast, featuring siblings Hannah and Jordan (who was apparently a massive Morrissey fan). They recently released a split EP with fellow Minneapolis band Fury Things,

DEAD CROSS
at First Avenue

What do you get when you cross Dave Lombardo (from Slayer) with Mike Patton (from Faith No More) and Justin Pearson & Michael Crain (of Retox)? You get
Dead Cross. The supergroup’s debut self-title recorded came out on August 4th via Seizure & Desist Records.
Although the band may sound new, the truth is, they’ve been around since 2015, when they made their live debut with vocalist Gabe Serbian in December of that year. Unfortunately, Serbian left the group, so they’ve had to re-record their record … now with Mike Patton’s vocals.
They’ve booked a show at Riot Fest in Chicago this year, and as a special bonus, they’ve added Minneapolis to their limited tour dates for 2017.
Their special guests
Secret Chiefs 3 will open.

Ogbonnaya was meant to play here last June 2017 but that show was canceled due to some controversial accusations with the main band Pwr Bttm.

09/19/2017 Midnight Sister continues their tour in support of their debut record Saturn Over Sunset (out this week on Jagjaguwar). The duo (Juliana Giraffe and Ari Balouzian) was supposed to play Turf Club on Tuesday with D.D Dumbo, but unfortunately, the show has been canceled.
You might recall when I first heard Paloma Faith's album Fall to Grace, I absolutely loved it. I said her soulful voice was similar to modern artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse (RIP), or Emeli Sande.
The British singer/songwriter will be releasing her new album A Perfect Contradiction, this October 7th on Sony Music. The new album featured contributions from Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Diane Warren, Plan B, Stewart Matthewman and Mr Hudson.
As expected, she will be in the US to promote the new album.

If you grew up in the 90s, chances were, you've heard "Epic" by Faith No More. "You want it all, but you can't have it!"
Since the band's reunion in 2009, the band's been busy playing several music festivals - particularly the Soundwave Festival in Australia, which we talked about in 2010 on our podcast.
Recently, the San Francisco band announced that they will be releasing a 2015 album (their first since 1997's Album of the Year.)
To preview the new album, a special 7" single called "Motherf****" will be out in time for Record Store Day's Black Friday event (November 28th). If you can't get a hold of the limited edition vinyl (5000 copies only), you can hear the song digitally on December 9th.
Although a national US tour dates have not been announced yet, they are confirmed for next year's Soundwave Festivals:
All-girl Manchester band PINS consisting of Faith Vern (vocals/guitar), Anna Donigan (bass), Lois Macdonald (guitar) and Sophie Galpin (drums).
Following up on their debut album Girls Like Us (Bella Union), PINS will be releasing a limited edition of a cassette EP Come Back for Cassette Day on September 27th.
PINS will also be doing a brief tour in the USA towards CMJ:
Oct 12 - Sunset Tavern - Seattle, WA
Oct 14 - Mississippi Studios - Portland, OR
Oct 15 - Electric Owl - Vancouver, BC
Oct 17 - Rickshaw Stop - San Francisco, CA
Oct 18 - Culture Collide Fest - Los Angeles, CA
Oct 19 - The Hideout - San Diego, CA
Oct 20 - 25 - CMJ Music Marathon, NY
CMJ described them as: "tough, dark, girl-gang surf-garage, smelted in the smokey streets of Manchester, England."
Los Angeles' Faith Evans began her career in the early 90s, working as backup vocals for Al B Sure and Christopher Williams, because she became the first woman to sign with Bad Boy Entertainment (Puff Daddy's record label).
She recently released "I Deserve It", a song featuring Missy Elliott and Sharaya J. The single is from Evans' eigth studio album Incomparable, which is set for release for the fourth quarter of 2014 via Prolific Music Group in partnership with BMG Artist Services.
Evans will be appearing at these events:
09/13/14 Harlem Healthy Soul Festival
10/18/14 Newark, NJ Prudential Hall
Self-taught guitarist Danielle Woodrow worked as Senior Vice President of Original Programming at FX Networks (overseeing shows such as Sons of Anarchy and Justified). In 2011, she was unhappy with her job and quit to explore her passion for music and started writing and composing songs for her debut album Turning (The Sabbatical Sessions).
Her debut song, appropriately is called "Leap of Faith".
Look for Turning (The Sabbatical Sessions) this September.
