The Vintage & Makers Market all-day pop-up marketplace took place in the parking lot of the White Squirrel Bar, in St Paul, on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Vendors from around the Twin Cities were out to sell unique handmade goods and vintage items.
This “final market of the summer” event was put together by Back Pocket Vintage, in south Saint Paul. They’ve brought together these vendors: Potty Mouth Makery, House of Fang Vintage Therapy, Dinah Abraham, BTC Wood, Artemis, Ranch Dressing Vintage Clothing, and Angry Line Cook (food truck).
FINICK started the Early Show at 1pm. She played a few of songs from her debut album Where Could We Go?, including “Beware the Beast” (a song about dragons), “What a Waste” (a song about stalking someone), and “Rain Falls”. As previously mentioned, she does have a forthcoming second album coming out, so we’re hearing some songs that only recently was named. I think one of the songs she said was called “Meanness” (Meaningless? I probably misheard it).
There was one cover song in the all-original set, and it was Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy.”
FINICK always ends her set with “Third Time’s the Charm”… so if you hear that song, you know her set is over.
Next up was singer/songwriter and yoga educator Jordy Vaughn, with a full band… including Sara Horishnyk on drums, who will be playing again with Bethany Larson & The Bees Knees outside in the patio later.
Vaughn is having the time of her life, she looks so happy… as if she was always meant to be on stage. She played every track off her recently released New Moon Rising EP, which included the title track, “Honey”, “Gold”, and “Summer Haze.”
They also did two cover songs, Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” (the song was semi-recently covered by The Last Dinner Party) and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” (a song that Infinity Song just covered on August 1).
Eldest Daughter closed out the Early Show, with a full band: Monica Merila on vocals, lead guitarist Austin Reid, bass player Sonja Quartz Leaf, and drummer Isaac Feia.
This band is new, originally as a duo with Monica and Austin. With a full band, it leaves Monica to focus on singing and can move her arms and dance.
