It's been a long time since I posted a cover here (Johnny Cash's "Cat's in the Cradle", over seven days ago!).
Robert Palmer's "identical women" concept was so popular in "Addicted to Love" that he used them in several other videos, including "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and "Simply Irresistible".
Frank Cho recently drew a parody for his Modern Masters Volume 14 cover (product available October 2007). If you're male and you read comic books, then you're probably familiar with his busty women drawings. He has a very clean style.
Anyway, I'm sure there's a ton that I'm missing - I encourage you guys to upload songs and/or images regarding "Addicted to Love". I only have two covers: by Tina Turner and Sonic Youth (Ciccone Youth). I'm just going to focus on the Sonic Youth one here.
Ciccone Youth was Sonic Youth and Mike Watt. They got their name from Madonna's name: Ciccone. The Whitey Album (1988) is includes a few Madonna's reference, including "Into the Groove" song as "Into the Groovey" and the cover picture is of Madonna's.
In addition to cover songs, the "identical women" concept are often parodied in music videos as well. See image below: Beyonce, Shania Twain (all men band), and Weird Al (all the women had mustaches & glasses).
Random Note #1: Ryan tried to sell me on the concept of Google Reader, which I dismissed at first, because I was already using Google Alerts. But after signing up for the Reader, I thought it was such a great xml, atom, and rss reader! It will also play the song we post as well as formatting it to look pretty!
If you want to add our feed on Google Reader, you have to paste in this link: weheartmusic.vox.com/library/posts/atom.xml
Random Note #2: I have also updated our profile, adding a FAQ. I get a more or less a lot of the same questions, so I've added some commoningly asked questions. Please ask me any questions here if I've missed some important one.
