THE DODOS
dodosmusic.net
The first time I heard of The Dodos in 2010, we called them band of the show. I eventually caught them in 2011, when they toured with Bleeding Rainbow (but back then they were called Reading Rainbow) and saw them again when they toured here in 2013 support of Carrier.
The San Francisco duo is back with Individ, the record is coming out January 27th, via Polyvinyl Records. As usual with these new album releases, the band will be heading out on tour to let people know all about it.
Set to open these 2015 tour dates will be Springtime Carnivore, who we missed last November due to early Winter Hibernation. March is still within my hibernation period, but hopefully it'll be a little warmer than it has been this month (January).

CARL BARAT & THE JACKALS
carlbaratandthejackals.com
Every year SXSW and Coachella (who just recently announced their worst lineup ever) draws in thousands of bands fly in from overseas to play in March and April. Count Carl Barât & The Jackals as one of the many bands to stop in Austin, Texas, for SXSW 2015.
Since they are already in the states, the London band will also be doing a small promotional tour in support of their highly anticipated debut album Let It Reign, which is coming out February 17th, via Grand Jury Music.

CHRIS BROWN & TYGA
chrisbrownworld.com
Sony music just sent me the preview song "Ayo", the new Chris Brown & Tyga song. The song is a preview from their forthcoming 2015 collaborative album Fan of a Fan 2 (the follow-up to their 2011 album Fan of a Fan).
Although both singers/performers are already established musicians, I can't help but feel that their personal lives have overshadowed everything they've accomplished. For example, Brown's assault of Rihanna and Tyga dating Kylie Jenner (of the Kardashian fame). She's 18 now, right? Obviously, I don't follow these stories that closely. All I know that their focus is on music right now, and that's a good thing.

BRIEFLY:
TERROR PIGEON
terrorpigeon.us Fierce Panda (who actually compiled one of my favorite rare S*M*A*S*H song on their Nings of Desire compilation) recently announced Terror Pigeon's Yucksongs! 2014:( album. Terror Pigeon was previously known as the much longer name Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt. |
ANIMAL DAYDREAM
facebook.com Sweden's Animal Daydream is releasing Easy Pleasures EP on Jigsaw Records this January 13th, 2015. Non-digital fans should try and get the limited 7" vinyl. |
ANIMAL RECORDS
animalrec.bandcamp.com Animal Records announced the release of Kanzi's debut Two Hearts EP. I believe they are from France, as they didn't really send me any details about who/what Kanzi are. Fair enough, the only French words I know are ooh la la. Kanzi's EP release party is taking place in Paris this January 18th at Café de la Presse. |
ANIMALI
animalitheband.com France's Animali is offering their brand new song "Hysterical Star" song for free. The song is taken from their first EP The Spark, and Three Other Poorly-Produced Pieces of Music. I don't really know anything else about the band (all the info on their website is written in French). |
GUSTAVE TIGER
cargocollective.com Hungary's Gustave Tiger is releasing their third single "Gourgandine Simaitha", taken from their 2014 album At The Idyll's End. The only thing I know about these guys is that they are described as an art punk band. |
SPOOK THE HORSES
spookthehorses.com New Zealand's three-guitar sextet, Spook the Horses will be releasing their sophomore album Rainmaker in the upcoming month (February 2nd). In the meantime, if you live in New Zealand, you can stop in at the Cabana on January 17th, to see the band live. |
