Remember, remember the fifth of November…
Mammoth WVH (Wolfgang Van Halen) is touring in support of his sophomore album Mammoth II. The tour will find its way to First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on November 5th.
We saw Mammoth WVH in Mar 2022 and noted, “While he exclusively played bass in Van Halen, in his own band WVH stuck to guitar with some light dabbling on the keyboard (similar to his late father), stating he brought the keyboard along “because I don’t want to play tracks” and emphasizing the “real sound” coming from both bands performing this night.”
Nita Strauss to open. We last her expertly shredding with Alice Cooper in Sep 2023.

RIAA Gold-certified singer-songwriter Royal & the Serpent is on tour in support of her Rat Trap saga projects. The tour stops in St Paul, at the Amsterdam Bar & Hall.
Carlie Hanson and Baby Fisher (not to be confused with Bobby Fischer) to open.
We saw Carlie Hanson in Mar 2023 and said, “She explained on stage that, although she’s living in Los Angeles now, her heart belongs to the Midwest. In fact, her mother, her sister, and her girlfriend, were all in the audience, making the 7th Street Entry show somewhat of a homecoming/family support show for Hanson.”

Slaughter Beach, Dog is touring in support of Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling via Lame-O Records.
We saw the band in Feb 2020 and wrote, “Opening the evening was the curiously named Slaughter Beach, Dog, a Jake Ewald side project that sprung from the ashes of Philadelphia’s Modern Baseball, who are currently on an indefinite hiatus. After going it alone for two records, last August’s third full-length album Safe and Also No Fear (Lame-O Records/Big Scary Monsters) goes even farther into acoustic indie-folk and is the most different from his former band’s sound, though Ewald has now formed a band around himself, including MB bassist Ian Farmer and Superheaven drummer Zack Robbins.”

The legendary John Oates is making a stop by the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis this November 6th. Oates, the other half of Hall & Oates fame, will be playing an early and late show.
Oates co-wrote some of your favorite songs, including “Out of Touch”, “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)”, and “Maneater” (which surprisingly made an appearance in the recent Jennifer Lawrence film No Hard Feelings).
Although Oates is under no obligation to play those hits, I’m sure he’ll tell stories about how those songs came to be.
Those stories can also be read in Oates’ memoir Change of Seasons, which was published on March 28, 2017 by St. Martin’s Press.
As usual with these Dakota Jazz Club shows, show up early and grab some food before the event. The show will start on time, so don’t be late.
