Maori singer Bunny Walters has died today (December 14th in New Zealand’s time zone) at the Waikato Hospital after a short illness, according to nzherald.co.nz. Walters was 63.
Bunny Walters was best known in New Zealand for his hit singles ‘Brandy’, ‘Nearest Thing to Heaven’ and ‘Take the Money and Run’.
Also, Chicago’s Barrelhouse Chuck has died at the age of 58 to prostate cancer. The Chicago Tribute reports: “Barrelhouse Chuck was one of the last links to a majestic lineage of Chicago blues, and his death Monday afternoon, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, ends one of the more remarkable stories in the city's blues culture. He was 58 and died of complications from prostate cancer, said Betsy Goering, his wife.”
