F**k Buttons
With a twinkling intro giving way to deep electric humming, F**k Buttons opens their album, “Street Horrrsing” as a dreamy, drone-y fairly pleasant headache. The screeching lyrics behind “Ribs Out”, the second track, complement nicely

BLANCK MASS
with KPT
at 7th Street Entry
Thursday, 03/10/16, 8pm ($15)
first-avenue.com
British electronic noisemaker
Blanck Mass (aka Benjamin John Power of
F**k Buttons) will be in town on Thursday, March 10th; touring in support of
Dumb Flesh, which came out May 2015. I like the name, it’s like Black and Blank together... and certainly a media-friendly band name. Let’s face it, publications are not going to print offensive names like F Button.
Opening will be Minneapolis’
KPT (pronounced “kept” not “kaput”).
Tour dates:
03/06/16 Philadelphia, PA Johnny Brenda's
03/07/16 Brooklyn, NY Baby's All Right
03/08/16 Washington, DC DC9

03/13/16 Festival Nrmal
03/17/16 SXSW

The Suffers
And if you’re taking a convertible down to the Gulf Coast, from Galveston to Muscle Shoals, an ideal soundtrack would be the ‘70s-inspired rock and soul sound of The Suffers, who brought along that feeling with them, in a joyful sixty minute

Boston’s
Lake Street Dive (named after Minneapolis’ dive bars!) sold out their appearance in trumpeter/guitarist McDuck Olson’s hometown at First Avenue in Minneapolis.
Lake Street Dive’s Nonesuch Records debut album,
Side Pony, is out now.
Opening will be
The Suffers, who we previously caught in
June 2015, and noted, “Singer Kam Franklin is parts Tina Turner/Britney Howard/Chaka Khan/Aretha Franklin, with a gospel power to vocally reach down and deliver their meld of rock, jazz, soul, Caribbean and Latin influences.”
Thankfully, the First Avenue mainstage will be plenty of room for the 10-piece ensemble (unlike their 7th Street Entry appearance).

first-avenue.com
Radiation City (or as we like to call them “Rad City”) is back in town this Friday, March 11th, in support of their Polyvinyl album
Synesthetica. We previously caught the dreampop band in
2013 and wrote, “Highlight of their set is a cover of the Beatles' "Happiness is a Warm Gun". I didn't recognize it until the obvious title was sung, so they really made the song their own.”

Lily & Madeleine
When it manifests itself, it doesn't require elaborate arguments or proofs; you can't debate someone into apprehending it. It's apparent and all it requires is appreciation, or perhaps even love. Such are the songs of Lily & Madeleine.

icehousempls.com
Keep It Together is the new LP from
Lily & Madeleine, via New West Records. The harmonizing sister-duo will be at the Icehouse in Minneapolis to support the album. Since the restaurant has a standard business hours, the actual show won’t start until 11pm (with doors opening at 10:30pm), so it’s a rather late show.
