It's Independence Day, if you're not out observing fireworks, check out this giant punk show of Against Me! and Dillinger Four. The show is so big, apparently it will take place starting at 1pm and expands to the Triple Rock's parking lot!

The annual A Taste of Minnesota ends on Sunday, July 5th.

As we've mentioned last year, the event moved over to the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia, Minnesota.... and I guess it is now the permanent home to A Taste of Minnesota.

Also, I believe you get music entertainment with your entrance ticket of $10, so it might be worth your time to check out these bands if you're heading down there.

Last year, we were able to catch Halestorm and Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, at Taste of MN (Day 3), which John wrote:

A last-minute location change was announced, and with less than a week’s notice, the festival moved west, to the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia. The Hard Rock lineup was saved for Day Three, headlined by up-and-comers Halestorm and Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, and from all accounts, was a well-attended success.

Sadly, Australian Ben Lee cancelled his Minneapolis appearance on this date. However, not all is lost, San Francisco's The Family Crest will be in town at the 7th Street Entry on July 6th in support of their album Beneath the Brine (Tender Loving Empire).

Leftwich also announced his massive 50+ tour dates. When does he ever have time to record new music? Well, according to Leftwich, expect new material later this year.

BEN LEE ben-lee.com When I was a DJ at KFSR 90.7 FM, my friend and music director introduced me to this Australian band called the Noise Addicts. At the time, singer Ben Lee was fourteen years old, but we knew he had talents. Anyway, Ben Lee is now the subject to Visit Films' "Ben Lee: Catch My Disease" documentary, directed by Amiel Courtin-Wilson. The film is coming out to DVD and digital release on November 6th, 2012. Expect to see the documentary to cover his ex-girlfriend Claire Danes and hipsters Jason Schwartzman and Zooey Deschanel, etc.

Mason's Acapulco Volume 2 -PDX can currently be streamed and purchased at his website. If you were wondering about the title, which is not a reference to the Mexican restaurants; it is a misspelling of a capella, and, yes, the songs are done in that style. In Volume 2, Mason covered The Shins, Laura Gibson, Fruit Bats, Sean Flinn, Shelley Short, and Arch Cape.
