You see, Go 96.3’s audience is slightly more pop music fans, while the 93x’s audience at First Avenue leaned to the hard rock/metal audience. Still, it didn’t matter if the audience liked pop, rap, or heavy rock, they all move to songs like ‘The Cops’ and ‘Hollywood Forever’. ”

Multi-hyphenate experimental band Bayonne (aka Roger Sellers) is currently on tour in support of his new album Temporary Time (Nettwerk Records). The tour will take them to Minneapolis, at the 7th Street Entry.

We caught Bayonne in April 2017 and compared him to Thom Yorke: “Opening up the show was Austin’s Bayonne, the stagename for one-man-band Roger Sellers, with a brief 30-min set. Armed with headphones and using various loops and pre-recorded beats, combined with raw vocal performances and sometime live instruments, Bayonne was able to recreate some unique songs. Some of the songs sounded like what Thom Yorke (Radiohead) would create with his experiments.”

We caught the singer in Mar 2017 and noted, “Bebe Rexha ended her set with two of her biggest hits, ‘No Broken Hearts’ (normally featuring Nicki Minaj), and her latest hit, ‘I Got You’ (her first Hot 100 hit single). The fact that Bebe Rexha wrote many of these hit songs, she seemed quite humble about it. Based on Rexha’s stories on stage, she seemed very friendly and approachable.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas--

With a chill in the air and snow on the ground, the holiday season is in full swing, meaning it’s almost time for the annual star-studded holiday concert, 101.3 KDWB's Jingle Ball 2018, Presented by Capital One®, taking place on Monday, Dec. 3 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Performers at this year’s holiday bash include: The Chainsmokers with special guest Kelsea Ballerini, 5 Seconds of Summer, Halsey, Bebe Rexha, Bazzi, Sabrina Carpenter, Kim Petras, Dinah Jane and Monsta X.

If that’s not enough entertainment for one night (or if you can’t afford a ticket) the Jingle Ball Pre-Party is a free all-ages event prior to the big show, happening down the hall at Rivercentre, in the Roy Wilkins Auditorium with doors opening at 4pm.

The lineup includes newcomers Madison Beer, Logan Henderson, Kim Petras, and Spencer Sutherland. Notable is the fact that Kim Petras is doing double-duty, performing both at the pre-party, and at the main event. The German-born LA-based singer is creating buzz with new EP Turn off the Light Vol 1 (Bunhead Records) and has over fifty million streams of her songs, having also just come off tour supporting Troye Sivan.

This year's official charity for 101.3 KDWB's Jingle Ball 2018 is the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. $1 of each ticket sold will be donated to the non-profit organization, which is dedicated to inspiring today's youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives.

Brooklyn’s Bebe Rexha headlined the Fine Line Music Café last Sunday, March 19th, in support of her second EP All Your Fault: Pt 1 (Warner Bros. Records).

The nearly sold-out show started with a funky set from singer/trumpeter Spencer Ludwig. With a helpful backup of soulful singers (with tambourine), violinist, and keyboardist, Lugwig put together a truly enjoyable varied 25-min set.

With only two singles available for purchase, of course, the band played both songs (set closer ‘Diggy’ and ‘Right Into U’), but they did let us preview some of the upcoming songs from his debut record (Good Time People), including a song he called ‘Legend’ and ‘Brooklyn’ (which he dedicated to Minneapolis).

According to Lugwig on stage, this was his first national tour, but based on how the band handled themselves (with complete confidence and stage presence), it sure didn’t look like their first rodeo.

Maybe it was for the fact that Ludwig is half-Filipino, but I have the feeling that if Prince was still alive, he would’ve shown up to this show.

Next up was YouTube/Spotify 16-year-old sensation Daniel Skye, who is out touring in support of his first official single ‘On’ (RCA Records). He is joined on stage by an official DJ/Hype-man and keyboardist.

Skye did drew in some young teenage fans, who were in the crowd with handmade signs, which is uncommon for a smaller stage like the Fine Line. Skye immediately noticed the signs and addressed it to “all the beautiful ladies”.

Many of the songs were being worked on/demos, and some of them were never released. Skye did bring out an acoustic guitar to play midway in his set, but you can tell he didn’t look comfortable playing and singing a quieter song. The Fine Line Music Café, with its full bar, is always a noisy/chatty venue to play sensitive, slow music.

With only a handful of written songs, it’s understandable that Skye’s set only clocked around 20 minutes (actually earlier than allotted). This let the DJ to extend the set by playing a little bit of Prince’s ‘Kiss’.... who he dedicated to “The Legend”, as he closed out their set list.

Although she only has two EPs under her belt (I Don't Wanna Grow Up and All Your Fault: Pt. 1), the truth is, she has paid her dues by teaming up as vocalist/songwriter on some of Billboard’s hottest singles - including appearing on G-Eazy’s ‘Me, Myself & I’, David Guetta’s ‘Hey Mama’, and Martin Garrix’s ‘In the Name of Love’. Of course, all the hits were played, to the audience’s delight.

From the banters on stage, she explained that basically her latest EP All Your Fault: Pt. 1 was all about a bad breakup from her boyfriend. Apparently, he broke up with her while she was on tour, via text message! Nothing say sexy like a bad breakup, so it would seem like Bebe Rexha is looking nothing short but sexy in all of her promotional photos.

She ended her set with two of her biggest hits, ‘No Broken Hearts’ (normally featuring Nicki Minaj), and her latest hit, ‘I Got You’ (her first Hot 100 hit single).
