Dark Dark Dark
It wouldn't be a 'dark' article unless we include Minneapolis' Dark Dark Dark. Longtime readers should note that we've been covering the band since their debut record. …

The Ventures
These are all really good solid songs in my opinion. The Ventures are an all-instrumental band (they did the Hawaii 5-0 theme song!) …

CLAES OLDENBURG: THE SIXTIES
walkerart.org
If you live in Minneapolis, or just a tourist passing through, you'll undoubtedly recognize Claes Oldenburg's Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture at the Walker Art Center.
In celebration of the Walker Art Center's latest exhibition,
Claes Oldenburg: The Sixties, there will be a "Walker After Hours: The Sixties" party. If you are attending, you are encouraged to dress up in your favorite 1960s look, as (obviously), this latest exhibit is focused on Oldenburg's work from that era, including his rare presentation of Mouse Museum and Ray Gun Wing (a walk-in structures housing objects collected by the artist).
Music will be handled by the Anonymous Choir (led by Nona Marie of Dark Dark Dark) with the Ventures Cover Band at The McGuire Theater. The Ventures Cover Band is quite fitting, in keeping with the 60s theme, as you may recall they were the original band responsible for the "Hawaii Five-O" song.
As for Anonymous Choir, they seem to be a cover lover band, singing classic (and not so classic) Leonard Cohen, Chan Marshall (Cat Power), Jackson Browne, and Kate Bush songs.
Additional details below:
Walker After Hours: The Sixties
Saturday, September 21, 10:30 pm – 1 am
$30 ($20 Walker members)
Celebrate the opening of Claes Oldenburg: The Sixties and get a first look at this highly anticipated exhibition. This late night party features music, photo booth, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and art making. Definitely not one to miss. Tickets: 612.375.7600 or purchase online. New members receive one free party ticket (or other premiums) for joining.

JESSICA FLEISCHER
lotsoflovemusic.com
When not playing 60s girl-group/ELO-style music as Lots of Love, singer/songwriter Jessica Fleischer apparently also doubles as a book author and artist.
Her book,
Little Luna and the Universe, is getting a Book Launch Party next Thursday, September 26th at Books & Cookies in Santa Monica, California.
I'm not quite sure why it took five years to produce the book, but Fleischer wrote and illustrated the entire project. According to Fleischer, the inspiration about the planets and universe came to her when she was baby-sitting and the three-year-old asked her "Why does the moon follow the sun?"
Little Luna and the Universe is meant to teach children about the Universe via a scientific approach, but also on a spiritual level.
As for Lots of Love, her debut
From the Start album came out at the end of August, and Fleischer wrote on the
Huff Po that it was inspired by "Connie Francis, The Shangri-Las, The Crystals and The Beatles to name a few."
(We love the Shangri-Las too.)
