Hey, I will be in the Chicago area this weekend (Friday through Monday or Tuesday, depending on how lazy we get). I'll probably be stopping through Milwaukee to see an old friend (she's on we♥music!), so if you live in these area, send me a note.
I also have a request to ask - for some reason, I don't have the CD to the Arsonists "Date of Birth" and I really want to listen to it. Here's a picture of the jewel case with my finger and messy desk. If you have a copy, I need to listen to it (particularly "Millionaire").(Update: devin306.vox.com answered the call! Thanks!)
In the meantime, I've been listening to their counterparts, Non Phixion (pronounced "non-fiction", yo!). The video to "14 Years of Rap" is from Q-unique's website, but it's quite slow (the file is over 75 mb), so I have reposted the video on vox. What's fun about the video is that it's so 80s-looking, when in fact it's totally from 2000.
For a while, I thought that the only official release of this song, "14 Years of Rap", that I know of is from Matador's CASSETTE promo mixed by DJ Eclipse. Two years later the album surfaced on CD, but not on the Matador label (and minus this Arsonists collaborated song).
However, after checking out their biography page, it did look like "14 Years..." was released as a single in 1999 under 3-2-1 Records (released under the group name of "Skeme Team" and the 12" and CD is called Plan A). "14 Years..." is the B-Side, and comes in three mixes: the Street mix, Sanitized mix, and a "Rapstrumental".
