UK’s Squid is heading out on tour in support of their latest album O Monolith (out now on Warp).
Talking about the new album, guitarist Anton Pearson commented, “I think we’ve been able to have a lot more fun this time. We wanted to embrace those slightly funny moments, where you establish a tone then free-fall into another sonic world, which is something we always do when we’re making music together.”
“Sad dance band” Water From Your Eyes (Nate Amos and Rachel Brown) to open. The experimental pop band released their Matador Records debut album Everyone’s Crushed last year. The record won widespread praise, receiving Pitchfork’s “Best New Music” as well as sweeping the “Best of 2023” lists, from Vogue, Rolling Stone, and many others.

Rising artist mehro will be returning to the Minneapolis this February 21, 2024, at the 7th Street Entry.
The singer’s last release “dopamine” in October, and he explained, “I wanted to make a song from the depths of despair, just on the other side of the invisible line. So hurt that the only way to survive is to step outside of any perspective. The sound singed and scorched any remnants of my artistic past; ‘dopamine’ is what emerges from the ashes.”
We saw mehro in Feb 2023 and said, “Sporting his own merch, mehro started off the evening with a brief set (four songs: Pirate Song, Can’t You Talk to Me, Whore and Chance with You.) On the scene since 2020 his music is introspective and would find a home in any coffee shop or cellar speakeasy where the acoustics of his guitar play and evocative voice would be fully appreciated. Even at the Fine Line he found a captive crowd that was quite disappointed when he started to thank everybody and wrapped up his set.”

Los Angeles’ Silversun Pickups will be headlining First Avenue this February 25, 2024.
The band released Acoustic Thrills in June 16, via New Machine Recordings, and features live, stripped-down, and reimagined versions of three songs off their latest album, the Butch Vig-produced Physical Thrills.
We saw Silversun Pickups in August 2022 and wrote, “The ninety-five-minute headlining set from Silversun Pickups, started like a time machine- a spooky ebbing hum and dry ice smoke prefaced the band taking the stage which began with “Well Thought Out Twinkles”, from their 2006 debut album, the song also remembered for being featured on Tony Hawk and Rock Band video games.”
